Ripped off bubble gum line from They Live

"here to chew bubble gum and kick ass... all out of bubble gum"

totally ripped off from They Live with Rowdy Roddy Piper (which was a much better film)

another cringe-worthy addition to the already terrible dialouge

ITT: guys little did you know, that bubble gum line was used BEFORE this movie!!

thanks cactustshirts for pointing that out for us, i for one have never heard that before so it was very much worth saying that it had been in previous movies.

I'm being sarcastic, you're saying something everyone knows, which isn't worth saying. and "ripped off" isn't accurate.

Why does everybody think this line was ripped off or even originated from a movie. this saying has been around for years..(probably from the 40's or earlier)I new it from the seventies the way the three of them said it...What time is it? It's time to Kick ass OR chew gum and I'm all out of gum. This line was funny because they used it (all three of them) jokingly as an old saying from their early years which for them would have been the sixties or seventies. another moment of reminiscing for the three of them.

Can you tell me the origin of the statement or question "does the drapes match the carpet"? I heard it in "Diamonds are Forever" 71 "as long as the cuffs match the collar" but this has probably been around for years earlier. Just different variations of an old saying.

I'm rootin' for ya, we're all in this together.

Grow up - since that film, the phrase has entered the general pool of smartarse comments one can fling. People quote it without ever knowing where it came from.

Being hung up on their use of that is like baulking at anyone talking about 'an offer they couldn't refuse'.

'Then' and 'than' are different words - stop confusing them.
