Indy Should Search for CHRISTIAN Artifacts

Christianity is "baked into" this series. Crystal Skull failed partly because it deviated from the formula.

Like they discover The Shroud of Turin is a fake and set out to find the real one?

reply

That could work.

reply

Don´t think it´s that important. Temple worked without a Christian relic and was still awesome.

reply

Thank you, was about to make that same point.

I'm not against Christian themes per se. But this series has done it 2 out of 4 movies. So 50% of the time.

So here we see a typical example of American Christianity, wherein a majority isn't enough, and thus viewed as persecution.

What's funny is the irony is that they're so eager to have it included in a series where they would consider the other themes fantastical and unrealistic ;)

reply

I´m actually a Christian myself but I still don´t see the importance of having a Christian artifact in an Indy movie. Just keep the story simple and action sequences good and it won´t fail like KOTCS did.

reply

So far I'd say that Christian artifacts have lead to the best movies. Perhaps they're just inherently more interesting, or at least lead to the most interesting stories.

CRYSTAL SKULL IS A GOOD MOVIE.

The scene with Shia swinging through the trees with the monkeys was one of the worst things I've EVER seen on screen, big or small. There were things I liked about 'Crystal Skull,' but when I think back on it (haven't seen it since it was in theaters), all I remember is Shia swinging with the monkeys, and CGI ants swarming/eating someone.

The movie was horrible, man. As much as I want to defend its good points, they are completely overshadowed by all of its ridiculously bad points.

reply

I LIKE IT...ITS A QUALITY 4TH FILM IN THE SERIES...THE MONKEY PART BEING MY ONLY REAL PROBLEM WITH THE FILM.

reply

I don't care for Indy 4, but the scene at the graveyard was pure Indy.

reply

Could have been straight magical. If it wasn't so over the top and ridiculous. Indiana Jones' son discovers the power of swinging on a rope and he's pretty good at it. Quickly uses it to his advantage. Instead it turned into a cartoon.

reply

It’s not bad.

reply

It’s fine.

Internet is gonna sing the praises of this movie high and low and when the new abomination drops. I personally think there's a good movie in Skull, it just just needs a complete re-edit. From what i've seen of all the behind the scenes stuff, there's enough footage there to wrestle out an overall better tone. Nothing that happens is terrible, really. It's presented terribly. I truly put the blame fully on Spielberg's shoulders. Even the infamous Nuke the Fridge scene, handled with a bit more of a delicate touch, could have pulled off.

I rewatched it a little while ago for the first time since it came out in theaters. It is not a good movie. Not only does it just feel amateurishly made in many ways, but I don't think that mixing Indy and aliens works, and I also feel like Central/South America consistently makes for dull locations. So even made more competently, I think this is a poor Indy story.

reply

True, as bad as Crystal Skull was, this new Indy movie will be 1000 times worse.
