My ONLY complaint..

TWO Dune movies, lasting something like 5+ hours, and I STILL think they never said the line "The Spice Must Flow" (if they did, I missed it!)

I rewatched the 1984 film and the 2000 Syfy channel miniseries, and they used that line about a half DOZEN times.

It would be like making a Lord of the Rings movies and never once uttering the line "One ring to rule them all".

THE SPICE MUST FLOW!

I like 1984 better. I just watched the new 4k three hour release of it on a high quality home cinema, and it blew my hair back big time.

The new Dune missed all this stuff:
didn't get to see the guild worm fold space
no ornate Atreides costumes
no mention of what a mentat is
no demonstration of the weirding way
never said: "The spice must flow"
never said: "The Sleeper must awaken"
never said: "The first step in avoiding a trap is knowing of it's existence"
never said: "Traveling without moving"
...i could go on and on, and on and on...

Agreed OP

And the extended ‘84 version is AMAZING!!!

I liked Denis’ versions too, and I’m grateful to have two different takes on the franchise, the polished/modern version and the dated, albeit equally enjoyable, weird, creepy, strange, what in the actual fuck version.

My main complaint is that I wish we would have gotten a look at the Space Guild Navigators in all their glory.
I also wish the Baron’s death scene had been more graphic, stripped naked and violently dragged out to the desert to bake in the sun or something….
But this in only nitpicking as I thoroughly enjoyed watching Paul knife him like a stuck pig as I was worried he would go out like he did in the book.
For those that don’t know, Denis took quite the liberty in his death, which I am most grateful for. In the book, Paul’s sister pricks the Baron with the Gom Jabar and he dies without so much as a whimper.
