The movie had a $53 million opening day, which was far lower than expectations and currently sits at 46th biggest opening day ever. In comparison, Avengers: Endgame opened with $153 million. Estimates of a $400 million weekend have been lowered to $150 million. A recent projection sees the film making around $1.7 billion. Combined with the budgets with Avatar 3, it could result in some losses for the studio.

LOL Despite the desperate hope of Cameron and Avatar detractors, this film will make a profit on US ticket sales alone, and international receipts will be gravy.
