Updated MCU ranking...

lol I cant believe were now 18....

I remember people making these lists after The Avengers came out and we were ranking Phase 1 with 5 films deep.....now 18....Its getting harder to rank these too....so many closer and quality films...

Ranking The Marvel Cinematic Universe Franchise Films-(My Favorite)
1. The Avengers--10/10
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier--9.5/10
3. Captain America:Civil War-9/10
4. Guardians Of The Galaxy--9/10
5. Thor 3: Ragnarok-8.5/10
6. Black Panther-8.5/10(I feel Black Panther is a better overall movie than Thor 3, But I'll rewatch Thor 3 more and IMO its way more fun)
7. Thor--9/10(I Know I'm in The Minority here)
8. Doctor Strange--8.5/10
9. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2-8/10
10. The Avengers Age Of Ultron--7/10
11. Ant-Man--8/10
12. Iron Man 2--7.5/10
13. Iron Man 3--6.5/10
14. Captain America The First Avengers--8/10
15. Spider-Man: Homecoming-7.5/10
16. Iron Man--9/10
17. Thor The Dark Word--7/10
18. The Incredible Hulk--7/10

Worth Noting IMO Iron Man may be Marvel Studios best overall film(just not one of my favorite)

IM3, Age Of Ultron and Thor 2 are the only Misses IMO....

reply

Good list. Hard to believe that both 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' and 'Avengers: Infinity War' will soon become 19th and 20th!

reply

Hulk is the worst but not a miss? I wish we saw the director's cut, not Feige's hack job we got.

^^^

No I personally dont feel the Hulk was A Miss....I feel TIH was just completely Average....NOt great, Not bad, just as average as can be....for me theres not 1 thing that stands out as Great, but theres also nothing that stands out as Bad....

Thor 2 Also kind of fits into this category, for me, I can watch Thor 2 and Enjoy it, But i feel Thor 2 is the ONLY MCU film where Kevin Fiege and Marvel Studios didnt really try or have A Great Idea/way to go with the film, I feel Thor 2 ultimately became nothing more than A cash grab, They didnt have a good story or idea but went ahead and pushed it out just to get a sequel out and make the money

Maybe not a miss, but close to a miss

IM3 and AOU for me are clear misses because they had Giant Creative Failures....The Mandarin Twist is IMO right up with "Martha" and "Mustache Gate" as the biggest creative failures in CBM history....

AOU had what was IMO the One of the worst Villains ever in Whedons Ultron, In every possible way Whedon Dropped the ball With AOU...The Avengers is my favorite CBN of All time, My expectations were through the roof for AOU....and Immediately after seeing AOU, My opinion was it was the biggest disappointment of all time, I still have that Opinion...

While everyone has different opinions and probably feels different about IM3 and AOU....for me they are clear misses(Not awful movies) just Misses, They went for something creatively and for me They completely Missed....

all other MCU films for me, are hits or at the very least Creative Successes....

some more than other, I feel...

The Avengers
Cap 2
Civil War
GOTG
Black Panther
and Doctor Strange are Creative HOME RUNS....

these CBMs all had unique Elements that were MORE than the usual for the CBM norm/genre

I feel movies like

Ant-Man
Thor 3
GOTG2
and Cap 1

had Above average Creative Decisions that made each film Successful and Unique in the CBM genre...

Others like

Thor
IM2
Hulk
Spiderman HM
and to some degree Thor 2

were just completely average, didnt have any huge misses but didnt have anything that really stuck out...

Yep. I'm not in the majority that praises Home-Coming. I felt it was a very sub-par story.

^^^^completely agree....I'm quite stunned out how praised it is, it amazes me that it got such great reviews and actually had quite good box office holds so obviously the Majority did really like it....

but for me it was just average...I too though story wasnt great, I thought the casting was Horrible(Flash and Peters friend was awful casting decisions, I didnt like the actress that Played Lizz either) and Finally I didnt think The action sequences were very good....

but you know what, I'm probably not the best person to judge Spiderman movies, I'm literally 0 for 6 when it comes to the SM movies....I HATED the Rami SM movies, thought TASM was Pointless and Hated everything About TASM2 except for Zimmers score and some of the action sequences....

for some reason, theres been 6 SM movies so far and Not one has hit home for me....I can at least see why Spider-Man 2 is held in such high regard though...even though I'm not a fan, I do see why people love it

reply

I guess it amazes me how much people rant and rave about Civil War. I thought it was merely good nothing great. I would never revisit it. Here are my ratings after seeing Black Panther.

Iron Man 8.5/10
Iron Man 2 5/10
Iron Man 3 7/10
Captain America First Avenger 6/10
Captain America Winter Soldier 8/10
Captain America Civil War 7/10
Thor 6/10
Thor The Dark World 4/10
Thor Ragnarok 6/10
The Avengers 8/10
Avengers Age of Ultron 5/10
Spider-man Homecoming 7/10
Doctor Strange 6/10
Antman 6/10
Guardians of the Galaxy 8.5/10
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 6.5/10
The Incredible Hulk 5/10
Black Panther 8.5/10

While the MCU has some solid entries they still in my book have yet to put out a masterpiece that transcended the genre.

Superman the movie, Spider-man 2, The Dark Knight and Logan I think are better than any MCU film.

reply

It's full to the brim with SJW and PC bullshit. The kids were aweful, his comic relief friend was aweful. The Vulture was mediocre and could have been fleshed out way more than simply "urr.. tech good... use tech" [and I really like the actor]. The story itself was mediocre.

As for Sam Reimi's Spiderman trilogy, I liked the first one, didn't care for the 2nd at all [Doc Oc could be so much better - used to like his mental instability in the comics, which I guess should have been used in the movie to give the character a bit more simpathy for] and the third installment showing Venom was... gahhhh. I liked how Venom was visually, hated the character though.

But Mary Jane REALLY made me cringe.

I didn't bother with TASM movies. Saw glimpses of the Lizard and my eyes rolled way back into my anus.
