STOPPED Watching Season 1, Episode 2

When the sheriff's daughter is revealed to be sleeping with sherrif's rival deputy I suddenly felt MANIPULATED by the show, the characters began to ring hollow and the atmosphere and 'cowboy noir' touches that pleased me were wearing thin. Too much plot, not enough character. At this early point the show 'jumped the shark' for me. Of course, fans will howl at 'all I missed' but no thanks.

I felt exactly the same way, although I did watch through the middle of the 4th season, which is when it actually does jump the shark.

I'd say it's worth watching the first 2, 2 1/2 seasons, though.

I had some issues with that episode as well, but it was because of the blatantly inaccurate portrayal of Mennonite culture. As usual, though, I gave it a pass. Not everyone lives among those folks, and few "get it". The show's strengths more than make up details like this.
