Anyone seen it yet?

Apparently the episodes have significantly higher ratings than S01.

Could it be because it's fresh and people that are REALLY interested saw it and are biased or is it THAT good?

reply

Still on episode 1.
The main characters are a delight as always. Any scene with other folks I struggle not to fast forward.
The dialogues in general are nowhere as good as in the book/season one.

I am not enjoying season 2 anywhere near as well as I did season 1. Season 1 was very good, with the only low points being the child actors.

Season 2 plot is weak and the script is kind of boring. Season 1's Anna Maxwell Martin did a better job as the Beelzebub character than season 2's Shelley Conn. The rest of the cast does a good job, too bad they have so little to work with. Jon Hamm's Gabriel in season 2 is completely neutered compared to season 1.

I've just finished the second episode, I'm watching one a week instead of binge watching!
So far so good, was interesting to see Tennant, his son and his father-in-law in the Job storyline!

Dazed!!!

I saw the League of Gentlemen "reunion" and though of you. And I just knew if you have come back to this place, it'd find you here! I could feel it in me waters!

Very happy I was correct and I hope all is well with you.

reply

Mina! So good to see you ❤
Everything is good with me thank you. I mean just like everyone, it's been a strange few years that's for sure but we came through it!

How are you, hope all is good with you too.

I was a bit disappointed with Good Omens 2 in the end though.

We should do the emoji game again, that was epic 🤣

I'm doing okay, as you said it's been a strange few years, but you gotta keep going.

I don't think I was that impressed with Good Omens 1 to begin with haha, 2 was a bit meh... I still very much enjoyed David Tennant and Michael Sheen's performances and dynamic. Jon Hamm though... not a huge fan.

It really was! Listening to Africa has never been the same since haha. Who are we gonna play with though?

reply

Yeah I know what you mean about Jon Hamm, he was kind of the Elephant/American in the room 😬

Haha "sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus..." can still remember solving that one, Mina! It was a work of genius and it made me feel like a genius (finally) working it out 🤣

Who are we going to play with? That's a good question 😒

I find that with a lot of American actors that pop up randomly in UK shows, they always stick out, and not in a good way haha.

I don't know if I could make that puzzle now!

Who are we going to play with? That's a good question 😒

I might dip my toes in GD again, but I'm not overly optimistic 🤷. We did have a good group of people going in the "good ol days". Is MissMargo still over at Filmboards?

BTW, we've derailed yet another thread 😁

Yeah, S2 is really good. The queer stuff could have been done better, it came off awkward and felt tacked on. Having several love stories is too much.

reply

As always it's of course also a matter of personal taste.
I only watched the first episode, didn't like it and rather continued with Lucifer (2016-2021).

reply

I quite liked both seasons. S02 is a different story altogether but still captured the essence of S01, so I'm guessing that's what most people liked about it.
