Wolf Creek vs Wolf Creek 2

Original versus sequel. Which one is your favorite? Wolf Creek or Wolf Creek 2?

Wolf Creek 2; more fun, and the ending is awesome.

Love both, but Wolf Creek 2 is my favorite :)

WC2, jjust. Can understand the arguments about why the first movie had a slower build up to introduce Mick, but the overall pace in 2 was better for me. Also found myself warming to the German couple and Ryan Corr more than the three in the first film.

Definitely Wolf Creek 2, it was more fun, slightly higher body count, more intense, Mick Taylor was more badass etc

They should've made either one of the German couple a main character, instead of Paul... You spent more time with them and got to know them better, so it was more affecting when they were in danger.

The first one is SO much better... Better build up leaves you with a main tourist who you actually care about... Mick's motivations are not explained so much and therefore make a lot more sense (if it's his job to wipe out foreigners then he wouldn't let Paul go) He acts at random and contradicts himself so much that the outcomes are purely by chance, so the trivia game holds no tension... (plus the singing and limericks are annoying!)

There's some good gore in both, but the first one is consistent and doesn't swing between making its bogeyman an antihero and omnipotent, based on whatever the writer and director felt like, at the time.

I really liked the first and finally watched the second last night. I didnt hate it, but it wasn't the best either. I wouldn't call it a horror movie. The opening scene with the cops was out of an action movie. Same with the way too long car chase scene. Basically nothing happened that needed to be in this movie until an hour and ten minutes (roughly) in (aside from the two minutes at the Germans campsite). I thought they really lost what they established in the first one.

If part one is a 7 out of 10 for me, this would be about a 4.

I like both, though they are two different kinds of movies.

Wolf Creek 1 is a raw film that feels like a grindhouse movie with a very low budget, which makes it harder to watch. This is one of its main strengths though, in the same way the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre works because of its grittiness.

Wolf Creek 2 is a big-budget, more commercially accessible film that feels more aimed at normal audiences. It actually feels very American, which takes away from the original movie's charm. It has a lot of gore, big action, and chase sequences, where the first one did not.

I actually would recommend Americans to watch 2 first, to get them into the feel of the movies, and then watch the 1st one. Overall I take the prefer the first one because it is genuinely disturbing, and one of the ugliest horror films I've ever seen. The second one is good in its own right, but that studio feel takes away from the grindhouse feel that made the first one so scary. 2 is definitely a well made movie, though.

1 has a pleasant start for the first half of it then gets subtly unpleasant for the second half. 2 is fairly much blood all the way through
