I can't be the only one...

I've played some of the games and enjoyed them, I also enjoyed the movie. Why all the hate it's not terrible!

reply

I mean I think it's an okay movie. I'm not a huge fan of the games but have played enough. I though the action scenes really captured the feel of AC. But the story isn't as great as it should be. This movie could've been better. But I do agree that it's not as bad as people make it out to be. It's just okay.

reply

Pretty decent flick. I would recommend it.

When I'm good, I'm GOOD. When I'm bad, I'm BETTER.

reply

No it sucked and the audience got lost in the story cause there was none...pay attention to detail as though it were real life and ask yourself why this and that is happening along with higher questions like why is that guy there and who is that and where did he come from?...you know thinking.

You know the STORY not merely Action crap with no rational explaination like the audience is just child watching cartoons like Blues clues...no thinking involved.

reply

I agree with you. I've never played the game so maybe that had something to do with my opinion however I'm not familiar with the Underworld storyline either but I enjoyed that movie much more.

Why?

Principally because at the beginning of Underworld a voice over narration provided the audience who were unfamiliar with Underworld context in the way of a storyline, enabling me to come up to speed in less than 5 minutes. It made the movie much easier to follow even though I had no idea what the principal characters had done/experienced before I saw the movie.

AC on the other hand provided none.

reply

Exactly, but doing that with supernatural is a given in feature films. AC couldn't do that because their characters are driven as man is and how can you some that up in a simple narration without giving away the story or there lack of?

reply

Your on to something.

They obviously cut major scenes which told the back story of the Creed...Fessbender looked like Mutant-X (Scott and Gene Grey's hybrid child) who can be, do and fore see everything like a SEER. Most idiots with A.D.D. didn't question why or why 2nd assassin girl only with Fessbender...they Cut Lara and other characters entirely (Uncredited) out because of a insane producer who doesn't care about the franchise for personal anger issues and his goons harassed and bad mouthed actors who inquired why they their scenes got cut please write a letter to the film to help make this stop...power is in the people and fans!

reply

Totally agree.

Sure, the plot towards the end got quite odd and paddled around in circles, but I went in expecting that to happen (as it seems to be par for the course with video game movies!)

But the film is quite enjoyable. It's not the greatest film ever made, sure, but it's FUN. It's like playing the game. The stunts are great. I liked the realness of having the scenes in the past spoken in Spanish, rather than the standard movie trope of all languages are English. The modern day stuff was kind of blah, but that's pretty much what the game is like, to be honest!

reply

Felt the same... Doesn't deserve all this hate.. Decent and enjoyable flick.

reply

Agreed. I would recommend it, as a fast-moving, visually engaging film. It puts together two very different worlds, and both are distinct and well realized. The critics simply chose this film to dump on, for whatever reason.

reply

Totally agree. I am not a fan of the video game, but I still love the movie.
People have their own preferences, and to me, Assassin's creed is as enjoyable as Doctor Strange. I will definitely recommand it to anyone who enjoy action and fantasy film.

reply

I've played the games and I thought the film was enjoyable enough for me to not regret seeing it in the cinema, but I can understand the hate. People are being harsher on this film than necessary, but I think it's because either

a) Expectations were high because on paper this should be THE optimum videogame-to-film adaptation material, and this didn't fill the potential of the Great White Hope of videogame movies

b) Those who are fundamentally sceptical and dismissive of videogame adaptations as a concept (The Roger Ebert) are ready to pounce on any offerings that are not strong.

This is, imho, a serviceable B-grade action film, but there was a definite expectation that this could be the film to drag videogame movies into A-list territory. It ended up falling way short of that and as a result some are savaging it far worse than it deserves, on the basis of its unfulfilled potential rather than what it delivered.

I suspect the problem is that you have too many paperclips up your nose

The games and the movie were all awesome

reply

No it sucked, as a movie on it's own plain and simple! regardless of gamer POV.

The audience got lost in the story cause there was none! paying attention to detail as though it were real life asking yourself why this and that is happening along with higher questions like why is that guy there and who is that and where did he come from?...film answer no of those and you were forced to set there and take it like a dummy who doesn't want to FEEL he got fooled by the trailers into watching cinematic flop AGAIN within the last 14-year suck period.

Pointless non-Jackie Chan slow fighting with hot faces and hair and no heavy breathing after getting the wind knocked out of'em and doing 12-moves flawlessly later..that's crap Action with no rational explanation like the audience is just child watching cartoons like Blues clues...no thinking involved for the avergae idiots huh...your wanna be that guy?

reply

I thought it was very good and can't understand all the negativity.

reply

I also agree that this movie is definitely worth a watch , regardless of whether one has played the games. I do think the story could have been better, but hopefully the sequel will fix that. Ubisoft is really good at making superior sequels.

I agree, just saw it and I personally thought its a good movie and a faithful adaption.

As someone who's played AC maybe an hour or two total, I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't the greatest but I thought Fassbender was good.
