Does anyone else think Marion Cotillard is kinda bland?

So, I rewatched 'The Dark Knight Rises' (2012) the other week, and, while it isn't a perfect film, though I don't think it deserves the hate it gets. There is one thing that bothers me about the movie, and one of them is Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

I don't know what it is, she was just so bland, her face was very smug most of the time, and her line delivery didn't bring any emotional depth or intensity to her role. Plus, not to mention I noticed the same thing in 'Inception' (2010), another Nolan directed movie.

Any other movie like 'Rust & Bone', she's fine, but not outstanding. I don't know what it is, I'm just not a fan of the way she acts.

Am I the only one who thinks she's kinda one-note?

Even Hollywood considers her to be bland as it has yet to give her a film opening role in a major feature.

She's an exotic looking character actress who seems to fill the spot vacated by Juliette Binoche and for which they seem to be grooming Alicia Vikander. By that I mean "smoky European woman" who is exotic enough for a White male lead without having the "problems" associated with casting a person of color.

She's awful and hopefully the failure of this film and the equally bland Allied will push her further into the background.

Lol this whole post is a joke. It's obvious that you're biased and ready to crush her. Allied and The Immigrant, she already carried Hollywood movies all by herself. And please, she's also the best thing in most of her american movies; Nine, Inception, Midnight in Paris, Public Enemies, Macbeth, the list goes on. And man just stop about Hollywood finding her bland. She's now the most sought out foreign actress. And Hollywood, as you put it, has recognized her immensely. Two best actress Oscar nominations and one win already.

Yes, she's so "bland", that such a director like Christopher Nolan delayed The Dark Knight Rises's shooting to get her while she was pregnant. If that's what you mean by "even Hollywood considers her to be bland", then you probably need some lessons on logic.

Also, what do you mean by "a film opening role"? You're obviously as far from the film industry as human being can be, so couldn't you please care to explain?

Nolan, I love you forever!

If you didn't understand it the first time I wrote it, why would I possibly waste even further amounts of time trying to explain it to you now? I'm not your dad, nor am I your grade school teachers. Helping you understand the rudiments of the English language isn't my job.

1) You didn't answer to my post, obviously, because you don't know what to say, am I right?

2) English is not my native language. And imperfectness of my speech doesn't free you from answering on my comments.

Yes, you're the only one. She was great in all her American features, even when the role itself wasn't so well-written. You can't name one actress which can handle such a characters like she does.

She's one of the most beautiful and talented actresses (Academy Award - ☑) of our time. Her role in AC required her to be reserved and not show much emotion or range yet she still was stunning.
