What are some things you liked about this movie? *spoiler warning*

I liked the pacing, and the depth of the character exploration. We got to know them, and understood who they were, and why there were that way. That gave the audience a reason to feel for them when the monster showed up.

I liked the nature of the story. Rather than give us archetypes and tropes to set up an unearned emotional climax, the film explored less-traveled avenues.

The film is darn near perfect in terms of pace and plot. I felt it faltered in two very major ways at the very end that I won't spoil, despite the warning in the title, and those two moments are the only thing keeping this film out of the "masterpiece" category in my judgment.

I loved seeing this Godzilla in all his glory on the big screen. I felt the camera shots really brought out how gigantic and majestic this movie monster is. I also really liked the redemption arcs for the characters as well as for the people of Japan in general. The movie is great at making you care. Everything from the pacing, music, and special effects make this one of the best Blockbusters I've seen in a very long time.
