I wouldn't say its elevated. It's technically proficient but like you're saying, it pays too much lip service plotwise to feel like its its own thing

sharehey, yeah, no problem. Actually I was hoping for more of an elaboration on this issue, since I seem to be getting the complaint from several people. I felt I kept it to basic plot points and tried my best to make the conclusions as vague as I could so i'm a bit confused on the complaints. After you see the film, I'd be very interested to hear if you really thought I gave away too much and what exactly I really should have kept hidden. Just for my future reference. I'd really appreciate it, but no pressure.

shareJust watched your review and didn't feel like you gave anything away. Using 1970s horror as a reference is a really broad comparison because it encompasses a lot. Based on the trailers, the vibe seems like Silence of the Lambs meets The Omen and/or Carrie.
shareI felt the same way but i've been getting so many complaints about it, and people telling me they saw those complaints and decided to click away from the video, that i'm kinda rethinking even going into too many plot points from here on out
shareDisagree, this was the most unsettling horror film we’ve had in years, probably since Hereditary. The sense of dread it managed to create was incredibly well done.
Also it’s not arthouse horror, that would be something like that other Nic Cage horror film he was in called Mandy. Longlegs is a conventional horror thriller and a very good one at that, it’s not trying to be art house at all.
