seriously? too bad they couldn't dig up Dom and Hobbs from deep freeze sleep and fire their super power stunt cars at the bad guys.

did this film do well? it didnt make double it's budget, so I guess that is a flop? I can see why.
The things you mention are only the most superficial part of what is wrong with this movie. It seems very like a first draft screenplay, with a nonsensical story and an embarrassing ending. The first of these Star Trek films was rather stupid but not awful, the second was appallingly stupid and barely watchable and this one was no kind of improvement.
Literally the only thing about this one that I like is the music -- and I do NOT mean fight the power...
yeah, I just got through it. wow. just wow. I guess action popcorn movie is a good explanation as any.... and they had to compete with way far over the top super heroes, so they went that route. just didn't seem like normal star trek to me. just weak
shareThe original script was written by the same guy who wrote the previous 2 films and was to have Shatner returning as Kirk in a kind of save the timeline type plot but the studio didnt want that as they felt it was 'too star trekkie' so hired Pegg to write something more Marvel/Guardiansy and the Fast Furious guy to direct
