Octavius keeps trying to hold Jedediah's hand and Octavius makes comments about the color of a guy's eyes...
He's done these types of things more than once which leads me to believe he's supposed to be gay or is this a joke?
There's noting more disturbing to a Cowboy than some brokeback mountain action.
shareI read somewhere (unfortunately I cannot remember where, so don't quote me on this) that the actor playing Octavius did so as if he had unrequited love for Jedidiah. Even if this isn't true, homosexuality was common in Rome at the time his character was around. There was a definitely Brokeback Mountain reference in the first film when they are letting the air out of the tire, so who knows if the writers knew something we didn't :)
I really liked the whole hand holding thing, regardless. I think in those scenes, he was using it more of a gesture of friendship and comfort (in each scenes they were facing some sort of mortal peril), like in the final dumpster incinerator scene in Toy Story 3. It wasn't going to help, but at least they wouldn't be alone. Jed doesn't reciprocate (or maybe he didn't understand what the hand holding meant) until they were dying at the end of the film.
holding hands and commenting on eyes is normal in Mediterranean region, not gay, but of course they were trying to joke about it for the filthy american mind. i wonder what you thought about when ben kissed the monkey, twice.
shareguys kiss on the cheek when say hello or goodbye in Europe.. just different cultures man.
kissing on the cheek is completely normal for them.
