Do women viewers recognize that his wife was the villain?

In the movie he doesn't defend himself, for a variety of reasons, so we only hear the wifes side of the argument...He fulfilled all three of his responsibilities - career, children, and new baby. She failed her only one, her children.

Apparently they don't. In fact, they don't even see a major point of this film. Logic and control vs emotional and weak people. What the wife plans to do is run blind down an unknown and dangerous path with her children in tow where as Locke simply wants to PLAN the journey.

in real life there are rarely villains, especially in such every day situations :P

neither of them are villains they're just humans

you could call the wife an "antagonist" from the plot's perspective, but that doesnt really have any negative connotations on her person 99.999999999999% women would react the EXACT same way
