Is S2 worth going thru S1 for? I'm at S1E04 and am totally bored.

The story in the first 4 episodes feels to me like some kind of Young Adult novel or something. Totally not resonating with me on any emotional or intellectual level.
I've read some superlatives about Season 2 and I'm interested to watch it, but do I really need to see ALL of Season 1 in order to enjoy Season 2?

Yes I just watched season 1 after 2 yrs. it like any good story about the human condition is worth the watch. How we deal with grief and loss is perhaps our most human attribute and this series really examines and extends that concept of being human. I guarantee you it is worth the watch.

For me , best comment I have read about the two seasons. The show (again, for me) is about the profound feelings of loss most have to go through - death in a family, loss of friends & family (death, anger, simple misunderstanding), trauma from natural disasters (Katrina, Sandy, earthwuakes, fracking ....) or political upheaval (9/11. Syria, terrorism in Europe and Asia) ... a;; of it.
We can feel these losses in our everyday lives, and they go on & on, even worse if we try to deny the feeling of grief, until we do (or do not) somehow begin to makes peace.
Not a perfect show, but heartfelt, with wonderful committed acting, direction, music.
Theroux & Reina King are especially excellent, and. for me, Carrie Coon is transcendent.

YES! And this is coming from someone who wasnt hooked on season 1 until like...the finale?

Looking back i really appreciated a lot of what season 1 had to offer but i still had a ton of problems with the pacing etc, and i was bored like you said. But you grow attached to the characters and by the end of s1 i really wanted to know what was going to happen next.

Season 2 however, i was hooked all the way. Totally worth it, but dont expect an 'easy' ride.

while season 2 is better it's not like its a different show.

if you don't like the first season i can't see how you'd like the second.

YES! I HATED season 1. With a passion. I only watched on because a friend of mine recommended it to me really passionately. But, my god, when season 2 came on, it's like a different show.

I just finished episode 9 of season 1 and find the whole withholding of mystery completely irritating, as if the writers aren't aware that mystery happens when EVERYTHING is revealed and you still can't fathom how or why things are the way they are. Instead, it's all about confounding viewers by withholding key information (that the writers are tirelessly trying to concoct, but can't seem to manage) and never copping to that strategy.

And I still don't get the payoff for belonging the Guilty Remnant. Why would anyone willingly subject themselves to such a stupid ideal? News for you, since the beginning of the human race, people have been coping with death and absence, and it doesn't require easily soiled white garments and chain-smoking.

So dumb.

that's been going on since the beginning of the human race as well.

I thought season 1 was okay. Not great but gave me enough to check out season 2. Glad I did. Season 2 was outstanding! Look at the ratings for the season 2 episodes. Almost GOT level of approval.
