How long do you think this series can go?
I haven't seen all the episodes yet, but with series 6 they are already to 1969. How far can they go before they run into the beginning of the original series, Inspector Morse?

They could always decide to just stay for a long time in the same year. In practice probably it will continue as long as the ratings hold up and Shaun Evans still wants to do it.
shareGood point that though they have advanced rather quickly through the years, they could slow things down anytime they choose. I wonder how long they'll keep the character of Fred Thursday. I went so long between watching the latest series that I'd forgotten why Win was so angry with Fred. I'm not anxious for Fred to leave, just wondering, that's all.
shareThursday seems really essential since he actually *has* a personal life, unlike Morse. Very much doubt they would part with him easily.
Yeah, we have the same problem vis-a-vis remembering what had happened in the past. Should use the various episode guides as a refresher I guess.
Yeah, kind of like M*A*S*H stretching a three year war out to eleven years' worth of episodes.
shareIf each season goes forward a year, then they could go about seventeen more seasons. But they probably won't.
shareI think Thursday is the big problem. They kind of have to stall the chronological progression or they will lose Thursday. Partly because I think he's been an officer since at least 1949 and they will start to run into his retirement age, and partly because the actor, Roger Allam is 68 and I'm struggling to see him as realistically young enough to be a cop at that age.
Bright is also a problem, the actor is 69.
