I played EVERY FPS franchise of note back in the day: Doom, Quake, Half-Life, Unreal, Bioshock...

...and yet I never EVER played a single Halo game.

Why should I be interested in this?

I’m not the biggest video game junkie on the planet, it’s nothing that I ever NEEDED to do or to have. Don’t even have the PS5 yet & I don’t care. That being said I always had a pretty good instinct on what I would like or what to get. Out of all of the ones you’ve mentioned in your heading, “Bioshock” was the only one that I’ve played and took a chance on way back then.

While I don’t regularly pursue the latest & greatest at my local GameStop again I do have a great sense of what I may like whether by ad, word of mouth or just seeing it somewhere. “Halo” to be fair is one of those but at the same time I don’t wait with baited breath for a new one to be released but I might grab any new ones if/when they come out.

Only thing i was interested in was the rumored “Silent Hill” game that they were developing but then was abandoned. The one that was supposed to star Norman Reedus, that one. The demo that I had for that looked good but too bad things fell apart, but nothings come along that made me say “I got to get it”

I played all those too, but Halo was the first first person shooter to give us cooperative split screen in its entire campaign. In 2001, just a few weeks after 9/11, the game also changed the world and single-handedly propelled Microsoft into the console market.

Halo was originally going to be a PC game, as predecessors, Marathon and Marathon 2 before it.

Most people play the campaigns solo today, and do have the cooperative option, but they will never get to experience the newness of it all that we experienced decades ago.
