The Old Man was quite smart

Valak was using Bill Wilkins, the old man ghost seen tormenting the household, as a puppet to do so, but Bill was still able to send a plea for help with the two sentences that made up the statement "Help me! It won't let me go!" that had to be played simultaneously to make sense, and to give Lorraine in her vision the riddle that is the clue that leads to Valak's name to banish it.

He must've been quite smart to outwit a demonic entity like that, to be honest. Must've been quite the verbal genius in his lifetime.

Its nice to know that everyone has something to offer. People may see a useless old man, yet he was intelligent enough to outsmart a demonic entity. Everyone has something special about them, whether you can see it or not.

Theres a saying; You are not a hero all day long, you dont brush your teeth a hero, get dressed a hero, walk your dog a hero, its just when those moments come you have a choice to make a heroic decision. The old man had one last heroic choice and even after death he fought a demon and tried to send a message through to help the family.
