Does Ruby Sunday’s personality remind you a little bit of Clara Oswald?

I’ve only recently been catching up on Nu-nu-Who and having just watched Boom, I’m definitely getting Clara Oswald vibes from Ruby Sunday. What say you?

Kind of with a mix of others.

I like her but I feel like we don't know much about her as a person outside her adoptive family.

Like in 73 yards, we didn't really see her friends etc. It feels like they made her the perfect companion in some ways and Millie Gibson plays her well but I feel there's something missing.

There wasn't really any friction between the doctor and her as well which sometimes helps.

Ish.

Boom was, of course, written by Steven Moffat. And Clara Oswald was his creation too. That bit where Ruby starts bossing The Doctor around and telling him she's going to hand him the fleshy urn thing instead of throwing it to him is definitely very Clara.

I think she comes across less like Clara Oswald in the RTD episodes though. Although there's still a touch of Clara about her in those episodes too.

Not sure it's all in the writing though. Jenna Coleman is from Blackpool and started her career on Emmerdale. And Millie Gibson is from Tameside and started her career on Corrie. So... I think they're quite similar actors from similar backgrounds.
