Does Black Widow have superpowers or she's a regular human?

I haven't followed these movies... but she takes a beating on this one... what's up?

reply

She has a lot of training in martial arts, and is in great physical shape. I may have missed it, but she probably also got the super soldier serum as part of the black widow program. Other than that, she doesn't have the other "standard" super hero powers like flying, shooting projectiles, energy manipulation, etc.

reply

No super powers, just highly trained.

In this movie, Black Widow and her sister are in a drug store following a battle, picking up some pain pills. Her sister comments, "I doubt the God from space has to take an ibuprofen after a fight." (Referring to Thor)

reply

They have never established in the movies the fact that she is anything other than a highly trained--but perfectly ordinary--human being.

In the comics, she was an ordinary human being, too. At least, she was when I started getting into comics 40 years ago. I'm sure she's been retconned since then.

reply

You are correct: in the MCU, she's a highly trained, exceptional human. Think "better than Olympic athlete," and you're about there.

In the comics, she started off as baseline human, then was retconned into having received a boost from a supersciency serum thingamabob. Which is about as ill-defined as it sounds. . .

reply

After seeing how she performs in this movie, it's impossible to keep assuming she's fully human. No human could endure that level of punishment. It must be concluded some sort of conditioning akin to the Super Serum was used on her.

reply

Neah, she's a woman and so, super human ;)

reply

In recent movies (not just MCU) it's been firmly established that petite women can take on men twice their size and not only come out on top, but thrash them easily. Doesn't matter that this is so far separated from reality it's humorous.

No, it's not super powers. Just Hollywood fantasy. (Which I have no problem with. I like movies that contain fantasy.)

reply

Exactly this lmao. Just shifting standards of realism, that's all. Her feats still show noticeably less power/ability than what Red Guardian is able to do (though he couldn't beat taskmaster, which we just have to attribute to the fact that Widow is better trained).

reply

You should understand that in superhero universes even normal humans are far more resilient than in the real world. This is necessary for the story to advance without crippling injuries to the non-powered heroes, of which there are many. Unless the plot requires the death of a civilian, they often survive events that would normally kill many.

(And, while you couldn't count on it, humans can be more resilient than we would think. Just earlier this month a British soldier on a training mission with parachutes had the chute "fail to deploy" and fell 15,000 feet and survived without serious injury.)

reply

That's so freaking weird. Hit a wall at 240 kph and you're pretty much pulp. Have a chute malfunction and hit the ground at 240 and some people almost just walks it off.

reply

She has the power of being able to mesmerize with her fine booty.

reply

She's a highly trained martial artist with gadgets, like Batman.

reply

More importantly, she has plot armor just like Batman.

reply

atleast Batman wears full body armour..

reply

Her superpower comes from her wilted uterus. When see her iconic signature move where she jumps on the villains (mostly men), they fall down easily. The stench of the fish yeast is too powerful. This is why Black Widow's have the red marking underneath and is shaped like an hourglass or vagina slit.

According to Marvel Database https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Natalia_Romanova_(Earth-616)

"Artificially-Enhanced Physiology: Natasha was biochemically enhanced through the Black Widow Ops Program when she was an infant. She received the Red Room's version of the Super-Soldier Serum that was created by Dr. Lyudmila Kudrin to enhance her immune system, bodily condition, and longevity. Nick Fury's intel classified her as Power Level 7

Peak Human Strength: Natasha's physical strength is enhanced, enabling her to consistently press lift 500 pounds (226 kilograms).

Athletic Speed: Natasha's speed is that of an Olympic athlete, enabling her to run at speeds of 32-36 mph.

Enhanced Durability: Natasha's body is enhanced to withstand greater physical injuries than normal humans. She has also withstood blows from superhumans like Imus Champion, explosions, and managed to continue fighting after being shot.

Black Widow dodging gunshots from Rapido's weapon.

Athletic Reflexes: Natasha’s reflexes are similar to those of an athlete.

Athletic Stamina: Natasha’s stamina is similar to that of an athlete.

Peak Human Healing: Dr. Kudrin theoretically stated Natasha's wounds heal five times faster than average human rate.

Enhanced Immune System: The Black Widow has been enhanced by biotechnology that has slowed her aging, and augmented her immune system.

Enhanced Longevity: The serum extends Natasha's lifespan and youth, resulting in her maintaining the appearance of a woman in her 30's despite being born in 1928.

Peak Human Endurance: Natasha exhibits extraordinary levels to physical pain. She once resumed functioning in spite of her undergoing unbearable surgery without anesthesia. "

at least in the comics , in the movies could be different.

So no , she doesn't have superpowers but she's definitely not an ordinary human being.

reply

Maybe, but in MCU Natasha was not born in 1928, she was beaten by other widows means she was not given super soldier serum. Otherwise it means Russia had a working super soldier serum, but clearly that was not the case.

reply

that's why i said in the movies could be different , also in the movie they clearly stated that Russia had its own super soldier serum which they used on Red Guardian the Russia answer to Captain America.

reply

If they had a working super soldier serum it wouldn't have been just one Red Guardian, it would have been an army of Red Guardians.

reply

they had a super soldier serum which they used on Alexei Shostakov only just like America used it only on Steve Rogers otherwise there would be an army of Captain Americas , did you even watch the movie , if you paid attention Alexei said at some point : "Soviet Union's first and only super soldier. I could have been more famous than Captain America."

also according to https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Red_Guardian

"At some point in his adulthood during the Cold War, Shostakov joined the Soviet Armed Forces and was the sole recipient of their recreated Super Soldier Serum, becoming the "Red Guardian", and acted as the Soviet counterpart to Captain America of the United States. Shostakov was deployed on numerous missions and won acclaim from the Soviet public, gaining legions of fans who remained loyal for decades and having action figures made in his likeness. During his military career, he encountered General Dreykov, becoming his friend and right-hand man in the process."

reply

So they had a working super soldier serum but they did not use it in large scale because they were stupid and wanted to lose the cold war?

reply

that's what it says , complain to the writers of the movie , it's not like i'm making things up.

reply

I never had any respect to the writers of this movie. As far as I am concerned they are really just a bunch of amateurs. I have no idea how they got the job. I mean pheromone lock? That is one the most stupid thing I ever heard.

reply

That *is* stupid. And it's never explained. But on the American side, in both the MCU and the comics, Erskine was killed. . .so that's why the US didn't have an army of super-soldiers.
