shareMainly for Joel to find the letter at the end. His relationship with Ellie is purely transactional up to that point. Bill is trying to tell him it's not worth it to live like that without someone to care for. Plus it's a place where they can plausibly load up on supplies.
shareIt took a long time getting there and the gay relationship threw a different angle into the mix. I thought Bill was going to get murdered when he was playing the piano. Obviously, that’s a result of watching TWD but no it developed into a long term relationship with one good scene that could have been much better had they shown more about the intended attack and their ultimate demise.
I agree the whole episode was to show the transition from a business relationship to a realisation that she had to be saved at all cost.
Yeah, I think that is one of the thing that was revolutionary about this show, because all the other zombie apocalypse shows have everyone killing everyone else as soon as they can, but this showed how it can be another way - and I think it's more likely that people will behave like this than just rabid cold blooded killers. The episode got a lot of really good reviews.
