Does anyone else think this is the best of all the Star Wars...

movies in the franchise?

I love the series but I have to admit that 4,5 & 6 have always been dated and corny. And 1,2 & 3 were simply not what I wanted as the prequels. 7,8 and hopefully 9 have all been very well done but the stories are still a bit cheesy.

Rogue One has really grown on me with every viewing. The scenery in the first 40 or so minutes is just magical. And this story is more mature, more exciting as a thriller.

Am I the only one?

Yes and no. I think it is one of the most well done SW films. Unlike most SW's films, it is a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end. I love the story, characters, pacing, designs, effects, plot, and creative decisions. The biggest problem with this film is quite possibly its biggest strength. It hinges quite a lot on nostalgia which is awesome, however, if that nostalgia didn't exist, this film would not be nearly as good. Can you imagine watching this without knowing about the Force, A New Hope, or let alone what a Death Star is??? I'm not saying that it would be bad, because it wouldn't be, but it would be vastly confusing if this was your first viewing of a SW film, considering the numerous references to other films which is amazing.

It is truly confounding that Disney can create an absolutely great sci-fi film in the SW universe like this and then give us complete trash like the entire sequel trilogy. IMO, this is a top 3 SW film.

Dude How, I'm right there. I really liked this movie. My nieces and nephews hated it. Not because they don't know Star Wars, they do for sure. It just didn't connect. I always say when I type about this film, it reminds me of when I was a young child trying to stay up late to watch an old WW2 or WW1 movie with my dad, he knew how it turned out, I didn't, and wanting to watch what he wanted to watch.... I don't know if you'll know what I was trying to say. It was a story added on to what he knew of WW2, prior to or after. Rogue One was a war story. If this story had happened during WW2 every person on the planet would know it...... It just connected in that way with me, watching old Saturday night war movies with my dad.

Enjoy your day

It’s not number one, but I think it’s the best outside of the original trilogy. I love the characters, art design, direction, and story. Gareth Edwards should’ve helmed the entire Disney trilogy.

I completely agree. I really enjoyed this film, exciting and entertaining with good performances and I loved how it was a self-contained story.

Yup, my favourite SW flick too.
