What Should I Know Before Watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2?

I saw the first one when it originally came out but don't remember much aside from the silly character names. Do I need to know anything from the first or can I just go and watch it cold turkey?

you can just jump in, you'll miss a lot of references and nods but you can still follow it okay :D

Yeah that's what I figured. It seems like one of those big summer blockbusters that's accessible to just about everyone. I'm sure I'll miss some references, but I'm just there for the popcorn and baby groot 👶

Know that the sequel sucks like the original.

I wonder if it will be like their current offerings of going big, but nothing special. They all seem to have nice pacing, big budgets and tight scripts. Its the jokes or characterization that seem to suffer.

Yeah, this is a whole new mission so you will probably be fine. You'll be surprised how much you remember when you watch it.
