This movie vs Brimstone

Which was harder to watch? I'm talking about the 2016 movie Brimstone with Guy Pierce.

This movie edged out the other IMO. I think the villain in Brimstone (GP) was less over the top than Sam Claflin (who resembles Chris Evans a bit), who was a little too unbelievable with his sustained cruelty.

Any other dark movies like these? I've seen Irreversible, I spit on your grave and Last House on the Left.

I liked Brimstone, so looking forward to watching this.

Brimstone was pretty dark and bleak throughout, while this movie has a couple of nearly unwatchable scenes only in the beginning (unwatchable due to how brutal it was).

This movie is only really dark in the beginning. Most of the movie is fine, with even some funny and tender moments. The media tried to blast this movie for it's violence and sexual assault, but it wasn't as bad as they said it was.

Thanks to both for the additional info 👍

You are welcome. Even though the brutality in the beginning is difficult, it is there because it helps the viewer understand how important the main character's journey is. I hope you like the movie.

Hey modica, what did you think of the ending, did you like it?

SPOILERS below

At first I was pissed off that she didn't get to kill her 2 rapists, esp. Hawkins. Then I thought about it some more and realized that it wouldn't have made her feel better, since she did kill Jago and only felt worse afterwards. I suppose we take comfort in the fact that the villains did die and she was avenged.

reply

Yes, I kind of did, but, like you said, at least the villains did die.
