If the alt-righters and MRAs hadn't badmouthed/trolled this movie...

...the critics and columnists wouldn't feel as compelled to defend this film and give it positive reviews. It would still get generally good notices, but they'd be less zealous and less hyped than they are at present, because critics wouldn't feel so compelled to make a point against the regressive right.

You right-wing assholes are your own worst enemies.

Then again, I think you want a cultural war. You thrive on this negative bullshit.

You're basically cultural terrorists looking to incite and provoke the other side.

Therapy, buddy.

Look in the mirror buddy....you stink of hate.

Typically, I don't care about this stuff because it doesn't apply t real life.

For instance, we can talk about feminism all day long but in real life, men and women will do the same things they have done since recorded history. So, political stuff just seems like empty philosophy to me that few ever really act on.

With that being said, I've heard from the right for many decades that they're a "social engineering" war going on. Again, sounds like some BS to hype people up.

In this situation, it really is TRUE. There really is a media war going on with the media being against regular people on the internet who are fighting back.

I'm not saying the average people are right in their stance, but the media is actually trying to suppress them, thus making them very wrong. And, this film, the actress, etc has said directly offensive things to attack average people.

It means the war is real.

reply

It's a stupid comic book movie which I will never see.

reply

Well if comic book movies aren't your thing, no harm/no foul. But it was actually really cool and a lot of fun to watch and really has me amped for Avengers: Endgame!

reply

I was responding to the OP and the culture war nonsense.

reply

The culture war stuff is total nonsense and most of it seems to be based on misquotes and out of context lines of Brie Larson. I find it embarrassing how offended some people are acting over it and that people took time to rate down a movie that they never saw is pitiful.

I sure enjoyed it though and I doubt any of that nonsense is gonna make a difference at the box office.

reply

What rating would you give it ??

reply

B to a B+

I'm a bit of a geek for comic book movies and blockbusters in general so I may not be the best measuring stick to judge by haha. If you like other MCU films you'd likely enjoy this. If you haven't liked many of them, I doubt this would be the exception. But I had a lot of fun watching it and a couple of the themes in it really worked well for me.

glad you enjoyed it. 👍👍👍👍👍

This doesn't help your cause.

Totally agree, he was also a Jussie truther.

"...the critics and columnists wouldn't feel as compelled to defend this film and give it positive reviews."

While thats probably true for columnists it doesn't apply to online critics on Youtube where the easiest base to cater to and gain an audience from is the alt-right (which make up the majority of flat-earthers by the way). Alt-righties are desperate to find people that agree with their conspiracies and Youtube is their current number one spot to look. Most youtubers are already aware of this and I guarantee you are poising themselves to get at least some ounce of that alt-right base just by saying the film is "meh."

However if you were to go full SJW in your Youtube channel you risk getting washed out by the massive TYT network.

Why is everyone that has a valid criticism somehow an Alt-Righter? People got upset over Bries moronic leftist comments while promoting the movie. Is it fair to judge the film based on that? No but it's not fair to label everyone that takes issue with her or the movie as Alt-Right.

I didn't like what she said and I feel like she needs to take more caution in the future with her wording but I saw the film non-the-less and while there were some moments of anti-male exaggerations, the film didn't feature that kind of messaging throughout and I found the film to be enjoyable for the most part minus it feeling a bit inconsistent, Carol being rather one dimensional for most of the film (even after she finds out the truth about the Kree and Skrulls) and some of the ways the film subverts expectations for certain characters. 7/10.

So, am I an Alt-Righter?

reply

No, not based on this post at the very least.

You haven't been bad-mouthing and down-voting this film before its release, as far as I'm aware, and you've provided a well-reasoned and credible review of the film (it doesn't even matter that your overall response was positive, which it clearly is, going by the 7/10 score - if you'd given a well-reasoned and credible bad review that would also have sufficed - the people I'm taking issue with here are those, of all persuasions, who give these films exaggerated good or bad reviews on the basis of politics rather than their own genuine feelings).

So, just to be clear: no, I don't think you're an alt-righter based on anything you've said here, or anything I can recall you saying elsewhere off the top of my head.

The movie looks boring as shit. That before all the political crap.
