I'm surprised the lesbian kissing scene isn't more famous.

Maybe if the overall movie were a little better or memorable? For me, the gum exchange at the end is what puts it over the top and into my top 3 all-time kissing scenes.

BTW, it wasn't in the original script.

My only objection: "I Want Candy" playing over it. Such a hacky needle drop by this point.

I like that Samara Weaving and Bella Thorne did not even bother to defend such a gratuitous scene. Which is rare these days (the explicitness of the kiss as well as the lack of justifying). Although, Thorne did say she was expecting a major backlash to that scene a year or two prior to release. Didn't happen, but it does get criticized.

I don’t find the kiss really exciting.
Especially because of the close-up and the slow motion, you clearly notice that the two actresses want to get the scene over with and avoid any unnecessary contact. The stretching of the lower lip also looks rather strange in slow motion, in my opinion. There are much better and more real-looking kisses in comparable films.

I also find the chosen version of the song strange. The original version from 1965 is about a woman named Candy. However, in the version played by Bow Wow Wow, the lyrics have been changed and now it is sung about the singer wanting a man. Not only does this lose the Candy pun, lyrics like

I go to see him when the sun goes down
Ain’t no finer boy in town
You’e my guy, you’re what the doctor ordered
You’re so sweet, you make my mouth water

don’t really fit a lesbian kissing scene in my opinion.
I thought the scene with the chewing gum was good too, though, I agree. :)

I don't know. To me, they're going for it. There is a lot of tongue - which is extremely rare in general - even mild French kissing is rare. Plus, the fantastic gum exchange (with Samara subsequently licking Bella's saliva off her finger).

Most lesbian kiss scenes have less chemistry and are usually just boring pecks, imo.

I can't think of anything more boring than two straight girls kissing to get male attention.

Well, Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon sure made it look good in "Bound".
