Earliest officially recorded case of false accusation?

Due to infidelity by the wife - looks like some things never change.

reply

false how?

reply

She cheated on her husband and eagerly fked him, then tried to play innocent and falsely accused him of r. The ramifications is that it cost him his life.

Same thing happens very often still today.

reply

Seemed she was raped even in the Le Gris point of view?

reply

read the wiki entry for this historical event - it would appear that the wife and the husband might have orchestrated this for promotion/financial incentives, since both have profited quite a bit, while their funds were depleted prior to this incident.

reply

... which is what I said; false accusation.

reply

It's so weird that this is what you came out of this film with.

Even in the version where it was Le Gris's perspective, it really didn't look like anything recognizable as willing infidelity.

reply

People see what they want to see.

reply

Because in real life Le Gris claim he had alibi. If you believe him, then it's "false accusation".

reply

Either your are trolling or have a warped sense of rape. The wife was clearly attracted to Le Gris but her pov shows that she did not flirt with him at the party and she clearly fought and tried to dissuade him when he raped her (you see this in both her pov and Le Gris even if he tamed it). You must think that every woman who shows you the slightest interest or even politeness as deserving of rape.

Le Gris was also shown to be 2 faced, conniving, malicious, adulterous, and greedy aside from being a rapist. They all have different pov, both de Carrouges and Marguerite favor themselves positively but Le Gris even in his pov shows him to be deplorable.

As for wikipedia, we're basing it on the film alone, so let's focus on the film itself.

Ps. I find it hard to believe that people in this time thought children cannot be born from rape.

Also how could the mother in law leave her alone alone knowing how dangerous it was since she too was raped?

reply

I'm also glad he died.

reply

I thought the mother-in-law purposefully left her alone because she hated her and didn't care if anything bad happened to her. It also seemed like there was something going on with the husband isolating Marguerite and the mother-in-law maybe enjoyed colluding with that just to be nasty.

I thought the movie did a good job of showing that the culture of the nobles was very dissolute so that le Gris was used to seeing women be treated as playthings. So when he thought Marguerite might be interested in him, it didn't really occur to him she might not be willing.

de Carrouges was sorta interesting. On the one hand, he was not really accepted by the other nobles, you get the impression he's not too bright, mainly known for his fighting skills, says obnoxious things on impulse that make the nobles dislike him. But then also very religious and proud.

reply

Noble women had one job back then: getting pregnant. She didn't become pregnant, thus the hate. And as the mother stated, she was also raped. Maybe she got because of this pregnant (dont remember correctly that point), but she definitely knows that she could get pregnant because of that. So yeah, she likely didn't do anything because she wanted to verify there is a heir, even if her son is not able to produce one. But even if not this thought, maybe she was hoping to make her life miserable, so she ends it or her stubborn son starts to get finally a concurbine after wifey got traumatized. It's all about heirs.

reply

It was a movie, it wasn't a documentary. No one knows today if she was a skank on the prowl or raped. No one will ever know.. which is often how it is today when a person cries rape.
