This show is getting more and more stupid.
Why would Axe give Wendy 5 million dollars for being sloppy with her computer and treating security like a seven year old? Or was it because she didn't understand the damage she's done? Or was it because she never seems to be working with anything? Or was it just because the writers have no brains? Or is Axe the most stupid man ever lived?

Assume Axe is worth $2,000,000,000 since the show is called Billions with an S (We know he is worth MUCH MUCH more but let's use this to illustrate).
For him to give away $5,000,000 would cut into his worth by .0025%.
That would be like someone worth $100,000 giving away $250.
It sounds strange to say but $5,000,000 is nothing.

Main reason was clearly to convince her (and saying sorry in a pathetic way but this doesn't matter at all). He adores her, depending on her and losing her was not really a part of his plan.
On the other hand, 5 mills for a character like Axe is like giving away a box of matches. Or less. So why not?
It was apology money for Acelrod thinking she was disloyal and somehow purposely went behind his back to leak the private info he shared to her..............she proved she was loyal, and that her husband stole the info from her.
In case you forgot, she was well-established as very valuable to the company as performance improvement specialist (head fixer).
The 5 million is not substantial to him, but to her it sort of is.
