Why was it such a flop?

Sure it did okay. But the studio projected obviously projected on the lower side...a 35 million dollar opening isn't much in late 2021.

I honestly thought it was going to open 100 million +.

Especially with the demographic 35/gen x'rs who weren't frightened about covid +

A sorta nostalgia fest.

Audiences waited 2 years for this Paramount movie to open.

It hasn't event surpassed the 2016 film that destroyed the IMDB boards.

Because nobody cares about Ghostbusters anymore. It could've been the actual Ghostbusters 3 with the main cast from the original and it still would've flopped.

reply

Actually isn't a flop, it cost 75 million to make so it's made it's money back, and it's a huge hit on streaming.

They couldn't have the OG cast in the leads because they're too old.

Am I the only one that equates flop to being a shit film?

reply

With nearly $200 million gross, it has made 2.6 times its production cost.

I'd like to see a sequel, with more of the new characters and keep the characters from the 1st film in the background.

Just opened in Japan and later Australia.

Doing big on streaming.

This should have done 300 million in the U.S. alone. It should have had a massive opening.

Because : pseudo-nerd rage bullshit.
