Without spoiling anything, is this movie worth watching or is it a long, depressing, downer of a film?

I understand that depressing movies can be excellent, I’m just not in the mood to be inundated with tragedy at the moment.

Both.

Scorsese doesn’t exactly walk on the sunny side of the street, and this one is more dry and serious than some of his others. It’s up to his usual high standards, though, and is absolutely worth watching.

Maybe wait till after Christmas.

Worth seeing once but it's way too bloated and not particularly interesting.
