This is the worst movie to have won an Oscar for Best Picture

Moonlight is 100x better than this.

I remember Elizabeth winning an oscar over saving private ryan - that was a travesty of the same sort. Having said that, I'd say the 3 billboards film is what I'd go with this time around -

reply

Shakespeare in Love won, not Elizabeth. I thought Elizabeth was a great film.

reply

you're right - shakespeare in love was the crappy film that won that year - it was a travesty

reply

SIL too clever for retarded yanks.

reply

Gwinnie Paltrow does not belong in a movie about The Bard. That travesty alone was enough to kill the film, you smug, condescending Limey.

reply

Crash is the worst my friend.

reply

Have you seen Cavalcade, Tom Jones, Marty, and The Greatest Show on Earth? They are worse than Crash.

reply

Shape of Water is definitely not the worst movie to win best picture. Cavalcade is the worst. Also, The Greatest Show on Earth, Tom Jones, Marty, Oliver, Ordinary People, Slumdog Millionaire, Shakespeare in Love, Titanic, Rocky, The Hurt Locker, and Chicago are not as good as Shape of Water and they all won best picture.

reply

I forgot about Shakespeare In Love and Slumdog Millionaire. 😂

reply

And oh god.. Chicago.

But I'm so baised against musicals I can never tell if they're actually good movies underneath all that. I have tried to like musicals. I just can't.

I just can't. The closest I get to "musicals" is This Is Spinal Tap, and that does't really count.

I haven't seen The Music Man, but it really doesn't matter about the quality of actors or even the music. As soon as they break into song, I'm out.

I bailed out of The Wizard of Oz.

Could. Not.

My friends have even tried the cool ones, like Jesus Christ Superstar and Hair and all that. CANNOT.

I think, though...I MIGHT be able to handle The Rocky Horror Picture Show because Tim Curry is just barrier-breaking awesome.

It's not surprising that I'd hate musicals though. Because while I like drama in my music, and while it can be bombastic even, it's never operatic. And sometimes things don't have to be a literal opera to be operatic. It's that that I run the other way with.

Shakespeare in Love was a deserved winner. Dumb americans are far too stupid to appreciate it.

reply

In your opinion.

reply

I disagree hugely. I don't know about Oliver or The Hurt Locker, but some of the other ones including Rocky, Marty, and Ordinary People are definitely way better than The Shape of Water.

There is so much wrong with this movie. It just shows that the voters don't have the ability to know anything about the industry they work in.

reply

Moonlight was last year, and it did win

reply

you sound like a whiny little kid

reply

Have you ever seen Crash?

reply

ya far better than this. i actually liked crash.

reply

Argo is worse.

reply

that was just propaganda
