What happened to this show?

No more new seasons? What's going on? It's been awhile since I've seen this show so I was thinking they might have cancelled it.

reply

RENEWED FOR A THIRD SEASON SCHEDULED TO AIR ON HULU SOMETIME THIS YEAR.

reply

It's coming, probably in December though. Seth has too many shows.

reply

Sure does. Orville is actually the only Seth Macfarlane project I'm interested in. Family Guy died ages ago and I never got into American Dad, his movies, or (ugh) The Cleveland Show.

reply

Same here. Considering how good Orville is, I'm confident he would've done a great job with the Star Wars sequel trilogy too since he's a fan.

reply

I'd be interested in seeing what he'd do with an off-shoot movie, but he's always doing comedy and I don't know how he'd roll with a straight-up space opera. Not that Star Wars is humourless, but we keep seeing what happens why they try to jam too much chucklin' into these movies (Jar-Jar Binks, lightsabre flip-toss, etc.)

reply

The Orville has become more serious in its later episodes. Too late for Disney Star Wars.

reply

I have heard reports from friends of mine (who are fans of The Orville) that it's a little like Seth wanted to just do a Star Trek show and sneaked it into a network's schedule under the cloaking device of comedy.

reply

I suspect he called it a parody in order not be sued. He should do a "parody" of Star Wars.

reply

It will be on Hulu only, by the way.

reply

It's not as bad as rick n morty, but the whole Disney buying fox slowed things down (seth's hotshot hollywood contract ran out as well) I believe and now coronavirus. They have 6 episodes filmed but not produced according to egotasticfuntime youtube channel, with a total of 11 episodes. I think I could be wrong.

reply

Season 2 on HULU had zero ads... for me. I don't know why. The other shows still had ads.

reply

I'm assuming they've been delayed like all the other productions. I wouldn't expect to see this show return till the end of next year at the soonest. I also wouldn't be surprised if this bounces back to network tv if the networks don't have any produced entertainment to fill their schedules.
