Anything to say about Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily in the movie Pan? How about Johnny Depp as Tonto? Carey Mulligan as Irene in Drive, Tom Cruise as William Cage in Edge of Tomorrow, Scarjo in Ghost in the Shell, Lio Tipton as Nora in Warm Bodies. Going by this logic we should all be up arms about these choices as well correct?

I have no issues with the skin colour but why couldn't they have kept the bright red hair, that's the most defining feature of Aerial if you ask me (apart from being a Mermaid!)

ScarJo as Major and Johnny Depp as Tonto led to extreme backlash that tanked sales and even hurt the actors' careers. And nobody saw the movie Pan.

I think it is more about it being a remake than anything else. If a a movie with a black lead was remade/recast as white the backlash would be much worse I'm sure.

That being said, it being animated makes a difference. It is fantasy. I really don't care. Neither do kids.
