Um, what about the fact that the character is a white woman and that is literally in her name?
What about the fact that if this were reversed (like say, Tiana or Mulan were rewritten into white characters), you and the rest of your cult would scream and rip your hair in outrage?
What about the fact that Disney is race-swapping iconic characters so that they can guilt their audience members if the remake bombs by accusing them of racism, and imbeciles like you are playing right into their hands? Because you are drinking the Kool-Aid and you can’t think for yourself, just like anyone who criticizes Lizzo for any reason is a racist in your eyes. She is above criticism and absolutely perfect just because she is a black woman. (By the way, THAT is actually racism.)
If Disney were making more original stories featuring non-white characters, nobody would be complaining that the characters were not white. In fact, they are making more original stories like that. And nobody is complaining! What a shock! It just turns out that nobody likes it when Disney just fundamentally changes everything about their iconic characters that their audience grew up with.

shareYeah, it enrages me. It pissed me off when they fundamentally changed the entire point of Maleficent’s character, and I suspected that it wouldn’t be the last time. It was also more than bad enough that a horrible person was elected into office and you weren’t allowed to criticize him because of the color of his skin. This reminds me of that time we were living in, forgetting the fact that it’s just as racist to put your support behind him BECAUSE of his skin color.
Now, not only is Disney shitting all over their classics with these bad remakes, but they are throwing that insulting race agenda in there. It infuriates me that these stupid Disney fans are going along with it.
A few years ago I was at a teaching and learning conference, I cannot for the life of me remember how this topic of discussion was brought up but someone decided to announce to the group: “And I am so glad that Disney is remaking The Little Mermaid and casting a POC as Ariel, the way it should be and the way Hans Christian Anderson envisioned it”. Of course he received universal applause for that comment but I was like “wait what? He envisioned her as black?”

Oh that was nothing compared to the “science of social Justice” seminar I signed up for earlier that summer. Now granted I did volunteer for it so this wasn’t something I was required to do but I did not expect it to be what it was: a virtue signaling session. It was mostly a bunch of liberal white women sitting around in a circle patting themselves on the back for how caring their were or the plight of African Americans and the horrors of systemic racism. One woman said that it was racist that so many blacks people were in poverty and I brought up “well what’s the data say about African Americans being born out of wedlock” and the response was “well black people don’t know how to use birth control and don’t have any means to get it”, ummm you can literally get free condoms at a health clinic. I guess going to this seminar was a lot easier for them than actually helping anyone.
