In some ways, I agreed with Waller and peacemaker

Obviously he is a fanatic took it waay far. Killing Flagg, trying to kill Ratchatcher, and the complete and total blind loyalty... I am OUT on that. And Waller telling them to just ignore the giant monster killing people is clearly wrong too.

But I wasn't real big on the whole the public "has to know" stuff. No good comes from that. The public is a mob. You can hold people in government/intelligence accountable without involving the mob that is the public.

True. It was stupid of the government to do dangerous research in an unstable shitty Third World country, but once it's done, letting people know, long after the people responsible are gone, doesn't seem like it would serve much purpose.

reply

It is always better to know, even if the truth is terrible.

reply

That is fundamentally false.

reply

It is not.

reply

It is. People will often act against their own self interest when exposed to the truth, for a multitude of reasons.

reply

This blanket statement cannot apply to ALL people and situations.

Sometimes telling someone something will free you of a burden, but end up needlessly burdening another person.

reply

Its always better to know, but not always better to tell.

reply

Some knowledge cannot be learned with impunity. It can change you for the worse.

There are things I know, and have kept it to myself, because telling someone will only make them feel terrible and theres nothing they can do with the knowledge to rectify anything. They would only feel awful if they knew.

My mind wont change about that. I hate lies and shadows, but some truth has to have mercy. And a greater mercy is to keep your mouth shut if you know it will not help anyone to know it.

reply

In the end the protags didn't do it either, for selfish reasons. The whole "public has to know" is all talk. But they're supposed to be bad guys anyway, so I'll let them slide.

reply

Whats awful is the US government has already done terrible things and many people know about it and STILL no justice has come about from it!

So even knowing, those people never got punished for what they did.

All around, its just wrong.

I understand Waller and Peacemaker, but when a group of people do terrible things to innocent people...we need justice, big time. If people who commit evil are held accountable for their actions, this world would be a better place. Problem is many of the original baddies from that project are long gone, so the only accomplishment of knowing is that the population can reign in their government and keep this crap from happening again.

reply

You do realize that you could say that about every nations government, right? The people in charge rarely pay the price anywhere, not just the us.

reply

The banality of evil, doesnt make it any less wrong.

Doesnt everyone know that?
