Strong as Superman? Slightly more powerful than Shazam?

I'm hearing the power levels are similar and that one on one Shazam or Superman will have quite a difficult time taking on Black Adam.

Black Adam is kind of the dark version of Superman anyway.

Well, he is literally the dark version of Shazam. Has been since his inception.

In the comics Black Adam has slight advantage over Superman because his power is magic based and it effects Superman.

No, he doesn't.

As in all things comics, it depends on who's writing the story.

But in general DC-lore, neither Adam nor Captain Marvel (I *refuse* to call him "Shazam"!!!) have an edge over Supes.

Final point: casual readers often parrot the "Superman has a weakness to magic" line. It's as big/common a misconception as "Batman beats everybody with prep time." Superman is not any more susceptible to "magic" than anyone else. . .it's just that, since he's not a magic user, he is affected just as any non-Kryptonian would be. Which makes sense. . .
