James Cameron should have been the only director ever allowed to make Terminator movies

T1 and T2 are the only good movies in the series worth watching.

James Cameron should never have given permission or sold the rights to anyone which allows them to make anymore Terminator movies after T2. The Terminator series really didn't need to go any further than T2.

Cameron was very close to making Terminator 3 himself. He had written the story down (maybe even finished the most of the script), but with the sinking of Carolco Pictures, it delayed things and made everything more complicated. You can even hear Cameron mention this on video when making the Terminator 2 3D ride, and how that will tie in to the third movie.

Read the "Development" section of T3. It's one big messy headache of the Terminator rights ping-ponging all over the place after Carolco sunk:

But by the time 1996 came around, even someone as prominent as James Cameron had trouble getting T3 into motion and had moved on to True Lies and Titanic instead.

It would be interesting to see what he had planned for T3 in the mid 90's.

reply

Probably go all CGI and full 3D just like Avatar. He's always been a tech guy first and artist second.

reply

Too bad a James Cameron T3-3D never came to fruition.

reply

Would have been the greatest trilogy ever if James Cameron's planned T3 was made in the 90's.

reply

He's too busy making endless Avatar sequels, even though the only person who wants to see them is him.

reply

There shouldn't be any Terminator movie. The first two wrapped the story up quite nicely.

reply

...AND BEFORE T2 YOU WOULD HAVE RAILED AGAINST T2 AS WELL.

reply

Yep, although I wouldnt of minded one prequel set in the future war about John Connor and Kyle Reese, directed by Cameron and filmed in the 90's. I don't think they had the balls to do it without Arnie though. He could of always played a marine that Skynet based their T-800 on.

T3 is not bad

reply

The basis of the story is good, I just never cared for Nick Stahl and I thought the female terminator was silly.

I thought the best part was when Skynet takes over and the scenes just prior to that were great with people fooling around with all of the machines we know will become sinister .
