You clearly have a personal issue with Atomic Blonde as it is a solid 6/10 film.
shareNah, nothing personal. I like the actors in it but the director somehow wrenched terrible performances out of them. Atomic Blonde is a writing/directing disaster. For 15 minutes, smack dab in the middle of the movie, it gets very good. Then it goes right back to being a poorly edited music video that beats you over the head with the Wall coming down (which had zero to do with the plot). It was as if magic Cinema Gnomes snuck onto the set while everyone was asleep and created a quality chunk of film that they were unable to measure up to afterward.
Atomic Blonde reaches out of the screen and slaps you. Peppermint lulls you into heavy-eyed comfort with by-the-numbers production that does nothing new nor special but neither does it do anything outright stupid which AB is rife with.
... but you are right to a degree. 2/10 is actually too low for it. 3.5/10 or 4/10 is more accurate because that middle 15 minutes is pretty damn good.
Peppermint looked actively generic just from the trailers while Atomic Blonde had some talent behind the camera with the fight scenes and cinematography. Plus, lesbian sex between Theron and Boutella. That at least gives it a 4/10 imo.
shareI didn't care for Atomic blonde TBH, I have seen better action movies like Hong Kong and South East Asia Based(The Raid) and most of the movies Scott Adkins makes which are lower budget and independent films
