This was a very good movie. 5/5

Saw this last night on Amazon. What an interesting and great
movie. I am not a big Tom Hanks fan, but as usually Tom submerged
into his role of Captain Jefferson Kidd and you hardly realize it is him.
The young girl was astonishing as a white child taken by the Indians,
the Kiowa tribe. We get a brief sideways glance a the old west and
news from the past world. I would definitely recommend it. 5/5

Agree, good movie with a great ending. The scene before last when they re-unite was beautiful & touching, and the girl did an amazing job from start to end. Thought she and Hanks had excellent chemistry that made the movie very believable.

Ditto from me. Hanks in his usual reliable film persona, always believable, the good guy, of course. I want to say he's underrated, but he has won two Oscars and numerous nominations. It's just that he's not from the method acting school, so he's overlooked when so-called great actors are discussed. He never overacts. He's in the same mold of Spencer Tracy and Jimmy Stewart in that he always plays some version of himself, and he's always believable. And Helena Zengel was great in a role where she had very little dialogue. Her feelings came thru in her eyes and her body language.

Yep. Not a fan of his politics but love his work.

The girl easily matched his effort in this one too.

What's your concern with his politics?

it's more like 5.5/10 for me. It was terribly formalistic with a lot of cliches. I found it just alright. With Hanks i expected a lot more.
