Wow! Bravo! Huzzah! That’s How You Do a Season Finale!

So, obviously, SPOILERS. I had serious doubts about how they were going to tie up season 1, and I dreaded a cliff-hanger, but, far as I’m concerned, they delivered the goods. Journee Smollet acted her heart out. She’s no Shakespearean, but her absolute and resolute RAGE with Christina was palpable and made me tingle with respect both for her and her character, Leti. We lost what I think was a GREAT antagonist, Christina, but that was inevitable: the scales must be balanced, and we also lost Tic, whose sacrifice—combined with Leti’s cunning and passion—freed Black people from the tyranny of White magicians. As a White occultist, I’m understandably unhappy with the idea that only Blacks have magic now, but I respect its narrative purpose. Asshats, like that bastard cop, don’t get to hurt people any more. (And I also know plenty of White practioners today😁) The way this ep brought all the story threads together, including the huge importance of the Korean kumiho spirit, left me very satisfied. I assume, next season, they’ll be working without the guidance of a book. Please, not another GOT!!

Don't forget we lost Ruby too who at the end tried to do the right thing. I figured Leti would lose her invincibility before the end it made her too powerful. Does Dee controling the shogoth mean she's closer in relation to Tic, like a sister? Friggin loved her mechanical arm. I'm no magic user but agree, it fits the narrative purpose of the show but who's to say a black magic user will not also be evil? Perhaps that sets up a black antagonist for S2 (if it happens).

I didn't get how Ruby could recast invincibility on Leti if she was comatose at that time.

I took the arm to mean that she had traveled from the future, to come back to punch Christina’s clock. Whether she used the time machine to flash forward and get the technology, then return, or whether she aged till the tech was available and then returned—I’m not sure. She looked older in that scene than she had any time before, but not 90 years older. I know more about prosthetics than I wish I did, but I’d say we’re 10 to 20 years away from having that tech; but what we have today is a Godsend and amazing when compared to what we had even 10 years ago.
