Just started watching this show

I know Tom gets the company. Is it all totally spoiled for me? Should I even bother watching more episodes? TBH, I’m at S1E4 and it is not very riveting for me.

Tom doesn't get the company. Another character named MATSSON gets it who is from another European country. And since there's a law saying someone foreign can't take over control of a US company, MATSSON appoints TOM to be what's called the US CEO of the company.

But MATSSON also makes it perfectly clear to Tom that he's the US CEO in NAME ONLY, and that ALL of the descisions regarding the company will be made by MATSSON.

In other words, Tom's just Matsson's powerless PUPPET due to the way that Matsson is the one who pulls ALL of Tom's PUPPET STRINGS.

And if you don't like or find the show riveting after watching just 3 or 4 episodes of it, then you'll probably also not like watching the entire 4 SEASONS of it either.

Ok thanks for the advice.

it's probably the best TV show ever made

Hmm, did you watch The Wire? I am not seeing Wiresque brilliance yet.

reply

no, i did not

season three of sucession had 14 different actors nominated

and it also won best writing ( for the third time )

The season 4 series ending show is probably one of the best TV show endings I've ever seen in my life. 10/10 without a doubt.

I'm in the same boat. Episode 6 was kinda interesting - I thought it would pick up after that, but instead it is followed by a family therapy episode, which is yet another slow burner.

All in all, it's very slow moving, where there's not a whole lot of scheming, but rather a crapload of talking about things of little substance. Why this show is getting such high review scores blows my mind. The creator of this show has written a bunch of film scripts before - on average, those films were rated 5/10 on imdb. Although I've seen only 7 episodes thus far, based on those 7 episodes, I'd give this around the same score as those films.

PS. I decided to check the episode rankings. Season 1 had 2 episodes ranked 9+ - episode 6, which I mentioned and the last episode. Season 2 had 5 episodes with that ranking. Season 3 - 4. Season 4 - 7 episodes (apparently, most consider it to be the best season).

So, looks like it might be worth sticking around - but again, only those episodes are going to amount to anything of value. The rest, I'd argue, are worth skimping through in fast-forward mode just not to lose track of things as you get to the good episodes. A lot of the episodes ranked 8+ are akin to watching the paint go dry.

It’s going soooo slowly for me too, but now I want to see Season 4 😩 if it’s the best.

I have dozed off watching it many times, then episodes go by while I was sleeping then I have to back and remember where I left off. And that is so hard because the episodes all look alike.

The only thing that keeps me interested are the Tom and Greg scenes.

So I questioning whether it’s spoiled for you, you then spoil for everyone else who had no clue that’s where you were going from the title of your post. Nice.
