I turned it off...........

when they started dancing. I couldn't take it anymore.

reply

yeah, it got rough (as in, so awkward, you feel it's pointless and wasting your time)
I get that.
If you got that far, you got the ending I think.

I stuck it out to the end, and it was not really worth it. One of my suspected endings that I ditched because it seemed too simplistic. Oh well. watched during the dark of night, so that helped the slight creepy factor of it.

Was something DIFFERENT to watch at least. Not another typical sequel, or dumbed down movie.

reply

>simplistic

Wut?

reply

yes, dull simplistic ending I has already guessed at the start, and ditched that idea IN HOPES of more depth. Didn't get it. They dangled quantum physics at us in the trailer so, could have done something more weird and entertaining, but, nope.
I literally guessed this ending, near the very front when they cut to showing the old guy. Too simplistic.

reply

500 IQ?

You had it planned out from the start. yeh ok

reply

let me ask you.... what did YOU come up with when they randomly cut to some old janitor at a school in the middle of everything? My GUESS was it was really about the guy, not the girl, and he was dying, remembering his past missteps. Sure, that isn't EXACTLY like the ending, but close enough - and too simplistic TO ME, since I came up with it instantly upon seeing those random cut in shots.

reply

I am here, two years and a pandemic later...lol...hope you got through it okay...

Yes, I guessed the ending too after that shot. But I hoped they wouldn't go that route. It seemed...too simplistic! And there they went.

I was much more interested in the weird happenings at his parents' house. I thought that was going somewhere. Would have been nice if it did. I also thought that he was a serial killer when he was driving out to the school, and especially after seeing all the other discarded milkshakes. They dropped this as a hint to throw us off, but what I thought (hoped) might happen was that he would take her to the school to kill her, but the janitor would turn out to be some sort of angelic being who would rescue her.

That would have been more interesting and rather more uplifting than the ending we got where an old naked guy commits suicide in his truck. WTF kind of ending is that, after making us suffer through a whole movie of bizarre and convoluted plot developments? I am sick of filmmakers who think that "Everything sucks" is some sort of brilliant revelation about the present human condition. Like, f*ck you for making me watch two hours of that pretentious crap.

reply

I thought the dancing was brilliant. Best film of the year for me.

reply

there's a cartoon pig in this movie.

reply

I know. I loved the cartoon pig.

reply

He was cool, yeah.

reply

So you didn't turn it off when they started dancing....

reply

There are two times in this movie when a couple dance in the school...although both times is before the pig.

reply

Then why did you rate it?

reply

i actually did manage to finish it

reply

How can you tell?

reply

What a boring and annoying movie that tries too hard to confuse the viewers. I was like WTF did I watch!?

reply

agreed

reply

I made it trough the whole thing and regret doing so. Probably the most dissapointing and boring film I have seen in years and I watch A LOT of them.

reply

You didn't miss much.
The movie had already delivered its message and the last 30 minutes could have easily been edited out. Yet it kept dragging on, getting more and more abstract, while not adding anything that hadn't already been made obvious by then

reply

a forgettable movie

reply

So did you think of ending things?
