It's a Fantasy Feel-Good Series

It's not supposed to be realistic which appears to be the main criticism. During these hard times, we could all use a little escapism, non?

The show is a young woman's fantasy of Paris based on old American stereotypes. If you don't take it so seriously, you can find plenty of humor especially if you're familiar with French culture and language.

I find it funny that the streets are 100% clean and there is no graffiti anywhere. The show ignores recently enacted pooper-scooper and anti-smoking laws as well as vanquishes ambulance sirens and demonstrations which are frequent in real Paris. When Emily sits at an outdoor cafe, men sitting around her are model handsome. More fantasy is Emily's huge stylish wardrobe and the obvious issue of it fitting inside her small, but chic chambre de bonne apartment.

Her boss Silvie is like a French Miranda from "Devil Wears Prada. Her coworkers are gossipy and fun especially my favorite character, Julien. I laugh each time he sneaks up to Emily to share an office secret.

Scenery is picturesque. And I don't mind learning a new French curse word or expression now and then.

Anyone else like the show?

Exactly, it's escapist fantasy. Nothing to take too seriously.

It's just mindless fantasy for women, made by a wannabe woman, Darren Star. :-)

Men have their male fantasies, like "Predator," etc. So, women get to have them too.

It was OK. There were some funny parts, in particular how she ended up sleeping with the younger brother, I did find that part hilarious. I think by the end of the series the story became a bit repetitive in that it was her constantly being desired by almost all of the male figures. Overall, it was somewhat entertaining, and yes you cannot take it seriously or you will not enjoy it all, and I did actually finish the series. That being said, I probably won't be checking out season 2 as I don't think there is much else to tell. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys romcoms.

Through the end of season 2 has been working pretty well I thought. Kind of like a throwback to the 90s, which is good in my book, plus the addition of social media stuff. It's pretty sophisticated in its jokes about French language and culture. I wonder if everyone even followed some of the subtler ones. The scenic shots are magnificent. The commentary on media culture is pretty good too.

There were only a few things i didn't care for:
- she sleeps with a guy the same day she meets him, twice -- two different guys. Not very believable.
- her hair. It's okay in a pony tail, but otherwise, when is she spending that much time to make it look like that? Plus, it is too much for her small frame.
- the British philistine guy -- never saw what she saw in him

I don't watch it but I read read the reviews and it seems critics got it now for what it is.

I am glad they enacted pooper scooper laws, leaving pet waste on the sidewalk is unhealthy and gross.
