Is it the Hiroshima scene? Is that why the crticis scored it lower?

I'm not a big marvel fan, but I think this movie is as good as the other Marvel films.

I'm pretty sure it's the Hiroshima scene. They probably don't like to be reminded that the bombing was a crime against humanity.

If it's about messing with real-world history, I never heard any of them complaining about Hydra helping Nazis.

reply

Bit of a stretch isn't it. What is wrong with showing Hiroshima, it did happen and should never be forgotten. I'm not sure how you can even come to this conclusion. Did you ever think it was just crap. It is to long, boring and generally not an enjoyable watch and so "crap". No deep meaningful conversation is required.

Again it has nothing to do with that. It is just crap and boring. Really all there is to it.

reply

I already said that I think it's on the same level as other marvel films (which is not that high, to be honest). Agree to disagree then.

And I've seen how many Americans defend the bombing. They actually think that there is nothing wrong with the bombings.

That is your question that I replied to. Your personal critique of Marvel movies is irrelevant so plays no role on the discussion. Critics scored it low because it was to long, boring, went no where and was crap. Other MArvel movies scored highly because of the opposite, not rocket science.

The hiroshima bombing hastened the end of the war and its enevitable end and in doing so saved millions of allied lives.

Would you rather the war had continued

reply

I'm sorry, my personal feeling about the film is irrelevant but yours not? Wut?

And there you go, thank you for proving my argument.

reply

You actually think there was something wrong with the bombings?

reply

Only an ignorant person or a psychopath would think there is nothing wrong with bombing two cities and exterminating all civilians.

reply

You're displaying your own ignorance by painting it that way. The countries were at war, and dropping the bombs ended the war, and saved far, far more lives than the bombs claimed.

reply

I won't care if you said that it was necessary. The fact that you think that there is NOTHING wrong. Now that's just wrong.

reply

You're purposely taking what I said out of context.

reply

You are more than welcome to explain the context.

reply

No need... it's still right there in black and white. Re-read it at your leisure.

reply

Either you have weird reading comprehension, or this is one of those "alternate facts."

reply

Someone this board is infested with trolls.

The death toll was insignificant compared to all of WW2. Dresden and Hamburg were also huge.

The Tokyo Fire Department gave the total number of casualties as 97,000 dead and 125,000 wounded, although historians 40 years later would argue that the death toll was probably twice that. The firebombing of Tokyo killed more people than the atomic bombs at Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

reply

so gants has no problem if 200 planes kills thousands of people He has a problem if its 1 plane.

reply

Not really, I have problems with willfully killing civilians in general.

reply

Look, i think most here would agree it would be better if the war never happened. But given the choices US had at that time, to use the bomb was the better alternative.

reply

Hmm, I dunno, I do disagree unfortunately and don’t think it’s as good as the other MCU movies.

For me the MCU have had some really great origin movies like Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy and more recently Shang-Chi.

This was probably the weakest MCU origin film for me, I enjoyed The Incredible Hulk and Captain Marvel more than Eternals and I’d consider those movies rather mediocre.

From the negative critic reviews I’ve read they critics have just found the film to be a long and boring mess with pacing issues, exposition dumps and a lack of character development.

I don’t think they’re hating on it for any other reason than that but I could be wrong, critics can hate on a film for the weirdest reasons these days haha.

"I'm not a big marvel fan, but I think this movie is as good as the other Marvel films."

The damnation of faint praise...

reply

Well, let's be honest. MCU films are not that great. I enjoyed Ironman and the first two Captain America. The other was meh.

reply

Yes, the first Iron Man was extremely entertaining. Along with Dark Knight, that film made a banner year for comic book movies. It's been downhill ever since. There have been a few solid B films like Dr. Strange, but overall the rest of the lot seems to all have the same rhythm and interchangeable in their own boring ways.

reply

"I'm not a big marvel fan, but I think this movie is as good as the other Marvel films."
But... the other Marvel movies are just as complete CRAP as this one! You must have terrible taste in movies.

reply

Never in my post have I ever said that marvel movies are all good. As I said, I'm not a big fan.

reply

That's OK then :)

reply

I'm not sure how anyone can actually believe this. Yes, this is a really good movie universally disliked because of one scene. *stares blankly at you*

The Hiroshima scene is typical Leftard anti American bs ...The nuclear bombings saved 1.000.000+ American soldiers just watch Hacksaw Ridge&the Pacific an invasion in mainland Japan would have been devastating. Marvel is just pissed about that fact that America ended the war the Alpha Male way.The American 🇺🇸 way.

reply

So you'd be "okey dokey" with the Japanese dropping two nuclear bombs on say New York and Waahington DC? Did you see the original 54 Godzilla without the dreadful American bent and Raymond Burr? What you saw there was Japan's grappling with the aftermath of what was the most devastating weapon ever created that was dropped on innocent elderly, women, children and animals. Tantamount to the napalm strafing runs in Vietnam to "route out" those pesky "gooks". Alpha male indeed, only when it's done to them.

reply

If they didn't want to be nuked then they shouldn't have attacked the US.

Pretty sure they have learned their lesson now.

reply

Same could be said of all the money America made after their "intervention" in Vietnam....who didn't attack America as The Gulf of Tonkin incident that was the "catalyst" in 1964 never happened. Consider this, when America was supposed to be neutral in WW2, Roosevelt began moving British troops without committing American forces. The attack at Pearl Harbor was inevitable based on Roosevelt's actions. So in both instances, American leadership led the USA into both actions because war is profitable. Roosevelt could have remained neutral. Johnson signed the order to upscale troop involvement thus tearing up Kennedy's drawdown order he signed before leaving for Dallas. Again, war is profitable. Both Roosevelt and Johnson knew it, and so did Nixon.

reply

Everyone is aware of the history and out of the world wars the US capitalised, literally, the most.

Sure they gamed the Japanese, but they still attacked, so it's their fault they got nuked.

reply

One could say the same about 9/11. The USA gets involved in foreign skirmishes then is surprised when it gets attacked.

reply

STUPID COMPARISON...TODAY JAPAN IS OUR FRIEND...WHEN WE DROPPED THE BOMBS,THEY WERE OUR ENEMY WHO ATTACKED PEARL HARBOR AND SUCKED A BIG MEAN DICK.

reply

So the innocent lives who were forever changed by dropping "the big dick" was justified in your opinion? What's the saying....ah, collateral damage. Never justifiable. Innocents are just that: INNOCENT.

reply

YES...UNFORTUNATELY FOR THEM IT WAS JUSTIFIED.

reply

Genocide is never ever justifiable.

reply

NO,IT ISN'T...OF COURSE FAT MAN & LITTLE BOY DID NOT COMMIT GENOCIDE.

reply

So the weapon wasn't created nor touched by human hands? They created themselves and got themselves into the Enola Gay, that flew itself. I see. Drones before drones.

reply

NO.WE BUILT,FLEW AND DROPPED THOSE BOMBS...BUT NOT FOR GENOCIDE...TO END THE WAR...THE WAR THEY DRAGGED US INTO WITH THEIR DICKLESS ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR...A SOCIETY OF MEN WHO CANT/WONT STOP EVER.OH AND THEY WERE ON THE WRONG SIDE.CLEARLY IN THE WRONG...NOT TO MENTION THEIR TREATMENT OF POWS...ENDED THE WAR...STORY OVER.

reply

Dropping bombs like these on two cities full of non combatants and innocents just to "make a statement" is tantamount to genocide. Hence the statement "bomb them back to the stone age." The amount of land contamination, birth defects, high levels of mortality is indicative of genocide. By any other intent or name it's genocide. Wrap it up in whatever words you want like "the war would never end" etc, but you're calling for the extinction of a section of humanity. Oh, and the prison camps set up in North America to house "possible conspirators" just makes it worse. Just ask George Takei what it felt like to be uprooted from hos home his family's belongings, home, business ripped from them without cause and telle that was justifiable.

reply

I LOVE JAPANESE PEOPLE...HOWEVER...DURING WWII...FUCK EM...US VS THEM...AND THEY WERE NASTY...WAR OVER...IT WAS A GOOD DAY...END.

reply

The bombing wasnt a crime agaisnt humanity. The bombing was necessary and better than the alternative.
