Would definitely agree that the ignore button did nothing to prevent IMDb's boards from being overrun with trolls. So I believe the key is to take away the posting privileges of those who refuse to comply with forum rules. First step: Take away they privilege to post OPs. Second step: Limit the amount of comments scofflaws post per day. Third step: Ban them from posting any comments. I'm in favor of having this board be as free as possible--yet with freedom comes responsibility.
From personal experiences, as an 8 year member of IMDb, the irony in all of this is I've maintained the theory that the most persistent "trolls" on IMDb may have been board moderators. I've speculated that the ones that would remind me over and over and over again, that this is not a fan site, speaking disparagingly of the actor with whom I admired while at the same time putting a Hollywood "It girl"/American sweetheart type, on a pedestal, over and over and over again--yet for some odd reason such a "troll" would never ever post a single comment on said "It girl's/American sweetheart's" message board. I often wondered, why does this "troll" even care less, or should I say, care so much as to post several lengthy posts day-after-day, week-after-week, year-after-year, reminding me of how terrible my choice in actors was. And here's the clincher: This "troll" would follow me, or should I say stalk me, not just on the board of my fave actor, but on all her various movie boards as well--which caused me to wonder why would any "troll" have such a vested interest in putting down an actor and anyone who admired such an actor. To me it made no sense, unless they had some sort of agenda to promote certain actors/directors/films while doing their utmost to keep down the actors/directors/films they perceived as threats for whatever reason.
I've noticed some troll types popping up here and there while perusing various boards on this forum--yet nothing like the overzealous "trolls" I've come across on IMDb.
One of the things that irked me most about trolls that used to frequent IMDb wasn't the spiteful parthian shots they left on various threads created by other members, but when they flooded various boards with numerous original post threads, sometimes taking up an entire page. So before banning those who make it a habit of posting trollish comments, first take away their OP posting privileges. I hope Jim keeps this board as free as possible--yet must temper this with the axiom that with freedom comes responsibility. Those who fail to comply by forum rules, the first step should involve having their OP posting privileges taken away as a warning. If such ones start flooding OP threads created by other members with trollish comments, the next step would be to limit the amount of comments they are allowed to post per day. If they still stubbornly refuse to comply with forum rules, they should then be banned from posting any comments. Again, with freedom comes responsibility.
My analogy of using VSFS supermodels and porn stars as the lead heroine in superhero movies was to make the point you clarified in your post Austin--that filmmakers shouldn't resort to using "one-dimensional sex objects" just because they're eye candy LOL!
That being said, one former adult film star that comes to mind, one of the most popular I might add, Sasha Grey who made the transition to mainstream Hollywood films, most notably her mesmerizing performance as the lead actor in "The Girlfriend Experience" which currently has a 66% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which includes a 4-star rating out of 4, from the late great film critic Roger Ebert who spoke very highly of her performance. In my opinion, her good acting chops coupled with her model looks made me wonder why she has never been cast in a superhero flick.
As far as Victoria's Secret Fashion models, at the top of my list for a possible VSFS Angel being cast in a superhero film role would have to be Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who replaced Megan Fox as the lead actress in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and had a supporting role in the Best Picture Oscar nominated film "Mad Max: Fury Road" which currently has a 97% RT score.

Yes, I would definitely agree that her being dolled up on SNL is a perfect example--namely the sketch where she impersonated supermodel Gisele Bundchen as well as the Totino's sketch.
Despite me saying she's one of the prettiest actresses in Hollywood, even I wouldn't admit she's a classic beauty in the truest sense of the word. But like they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there's something about Kristen that makes me more attracted to her beauty than even actresses with perfectly proportioned faces a la the 1.618 Golden Ratio.
Yes, I'm a sucker for beauty and won't deny that I find other actresses of her generation with more perfect facial proportions such as Margot Robbie and Emma Watson to be drop dead gorgeous--just as during the Golden Age of Hollywood people would say the same about Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Lauren Bacall, Ursula Andress, Vivien Leigh, Jacqueline Bisset and yes, of course like you mentioned, Raquel Welch. I too, no doubt, find them all to be immensely attractive--along with actresses from younger generations such as Tuesday Weld, Madeline Stowe, Brooke Shields, Sharon Stone, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Elizabeth Hurley, Heather Graham, Alyssa Milano, Rebecca Romijn, Nicole Kidman, Denise Richards, Milla Jovovich, Angelina Joli and still younger generations which include the likes of Megan Fox, Natalie Portman and Jessica Alba.
And yet in my mind, Kristen still has the drop on all of them. For me, like the women I'm attracted to in real life, beauty goes beyond just another pretty face. If it were only about looks, when it comes to actresses who should be starring in superhero flicks like we've been talking about, filmmakers should cast Victoria's Secret Fashion models--or better yet--adult film stars--some of whom are in my opinion--just as attractive as any actress working in Hollywood today--I kid you not. So one would think an actress must still possess a measure of acting talent even in a superhero film.

If there is one role I would recommend that showcases her acting talent, it would have to be "Clouds of Sils Maria". In my opinion, she put on an acting clinic with her performance. And many would probably agree as she became the first American actress to have ever won a Cesar award for her role as Valentine. She also received lots of critical acclaim for this role, most notably, first place critics groups awards from both the New York Film Critics Circle and National Society of Film Critics as well as a second place award from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. These three critics groups are widely considered to be the three most prestigious film critics groups in the world.

Good points as well Sentient, as I believe many casual fans and observers would probably agree with most of what you stated. I couldn't agree more that indie roles suit her the best since my personal fave performances of her have all been in indies (i.e., Clouds of Sils Maria, Adventureland, Still Alice, The Runaways, The Cake Eaters, Into the Wild, Speak). While I'm not really a fan of The Twilight Saga films, just the fact that she helped anchor the highest grossing female oriented film franchise of all time speaks volumes. Unfortunately for her, like you mentioned, it was a double edged sword in that the paparazzi and gossip rags never let her out of their sight, which must have been difficult for a young actress who doesn't prefer the limelight. You do have a point when you say she's average looking by Hollywood standards, from the perspective that in the roles most know her by, she portrays the average girl next door, oftentimes a troubled teen. However, when she's all dolled up, I consider her to be one of the prettiest young actresses working in Hollywood today. And there must be a good reason why she is the face of Chanel's makeup line and models extensively for Chanel. I've been wanting Kristen to star in a superhero franchise primarily for exposure, in order to show mainstream audiences that she does possess a measure of acting talent--as most only know her by Twilight--and obviously most haven't seen her small budget indies, well at least not in theaters. So thankfully she has been cast in the big budget film "Underwater", which is not exactly a superhero flick, but will afford her the opportunity to star in a kickass role in a studio tentpole, which might suit her even better than a superhero franchise probably would. While starring in a superhero role is relatively uncharted territory for Kristen, it does not come without precedent as the fifth installment of Twilight, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2", she did play a vampire with superhuman strength. And of course there's her role as Snow in "Snow White and the Huntsman", where she portrayed another kickass heroine, a film which actually did pretty well at the box office, grossing nearly $400 million worldwide, which was much better than "The Huntsman: Winter's War" did despite retaining all of the stars from SWATH, except for Kristen, while adding Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain. Speaking of working with directors during the '70s, I would have loved to have seen Kristen perform in a role similar to Gena Rowland's role in indie film pioneer John Cassavetes' 1974 film "A Woman Under the Influence." In an interview, Kristen even mentioned how she considered Rowland's performance as one of the most influential roles on her as a young actress growing up in Hollywood.

So that would be somewhat of an oxymoron to have two actors who are widely considered to be annoying are paid several million for each role they are cast in, when taken in the context of the OP which states that because an actor is considered by many to be annoying, that such an actor should not continue to be cast in films.
I myself don't consider either actor to be annoying at all. For example there was nothing annoying about watching Tom's performances, in chronological order of his appearances in the movies: "The Outsiders", "Risky Business", "All the Right Moves", "Legend", "Top Gun", "The Color of Money", "Rain Man", "Born on the Fourth of July", "Days of Thunder", "Far and Away", "A Few Good Men", "The Firm", "Interview with the Vampire", "Mission: Impossible", "Jerry Maguire", "Eyes Wide Shut", "Magnolia", "Mission: Impossible II", "The Others", "Vanilla Sky", "Minority Report", "Narc", "The Last Samurai", "Collateral", "War of the Worlds", Mission: Impossible III", "Tropic Thunder", "Valkyrie", "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol", "Jack Reacher", Edge of Tomorrow", "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation", "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back".

Thanks Wilson for posting those pics and clips! I really appreciate the countless links you provided on Kristen's IMDb message board over the past few years. I'm hoping this site will continue where IMDb left off--although it seems that Kristen's fans are on various movie forums as well as social media services such as Facebook and Twitter. Hopefully one day, we will all reunite on a forum such as this, for we had a good thing going on IMDb while it lasted.
Some of the most recent films I watched were "Moonlight", "The Birth of a Nation", "The Light Between the Oceans", "The Magnificent Seven", "The Girl on the Train" and "Captain Fantastic".
"Moonlight" was loaded with performances ranging from good to great, most notably Trevante Rhodes, Andre Holland, Janelle Monae, Ashton Sanders, Jharrel Jerome, Naomie Harris and Mahershala Ali. This is one of those film that stays with you days after viewing it and is definitely deserving of its Best Picture Oscar. I'm amazed by how a film with a production budget of only $1.5 million can boast such good acting performances, direction, screenwriting, cinematography and editing.
"The Birth of a Nation" was another 2016 release which boasted several good acting performances including the ones from Nate Parker, Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Penelope Ann Miller, Jackie Earle Haley and Gabrielle Union. While this film wasn't quite as good "12 Years a Slave" which won a Best Picture Oscar a few years ago, it was well worth watching for its wrenching performances and heartrending storyline.
While I may be a bit partial to Alicia Vikander after enjoying her riveting performance in "Ex Machina" immensely, she was also very good in "The Light Between the Oceans". Can't believe this film currently has a 59% Rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes, for I enjoyed this film more than some Best Picture Oscar nominees such as "Hell or High Water", which despite its good acting performances and 98% Certified Fresh RT score, I consider this film overrated.
Heck, I don't even consider HOHW to be the best western of 2016, as that distinction I would have to give to "The Magnificent Seven". Perhaps I'm partial to Antoine Fuqua, whom I consider to be one of the most underrated directors working in Hollywood today in addition to this film being a reimagination of "Seven Samurai" which is among my top ten fave films of all time.
One of films which I highly anticipated for 2016 was "The Girl on the Train" since thrillers are one of my fave film genres and this film is based on a novel that debuted at #1 on the New York Times Fiction Best Sellers list. While Emily Blunt churned out a captivating performance, this film relied too much on melodrama as several critics stated and the overuse of flashback scenes which I'm guessing was supposed to aid in the viewers understanding of the main character's stream of consciousness, was too distracting with regard to the film's story arc, which made the storyline a jumbled mess throughout. While TGOTT was still a decent thriller, it had all the makings of a great psychological thriller such as "Gone Girl", so in that sense it was a disappointment.
And lastly we have "Captain Fantastic" which was a very pleasant surprise--not that I didn't expect at least one good acting performance from this film since Viggo Mortensen did receive a Best Actor nom for his role as Ben Cash--but was taken aback by a plethora of good performances. Other standout performances include George MacKay who portrayed Ben's oldest son Bo. Erin Moriarty did well playing a small supporting role as Ben's love interest, which was reminiscent of Kristen's role as Em in "Adventureland". Hopefully Erin will get more lead roles as I consider her to be one of the most underrated young actresses working in Hollywood. Another memorable performance was from Shree Crooks who played one of Ben's younger daughters Zaja. I gotta tell ya, as difficult a thing as it is to predict which child actor will go on to become a future A-list Hollywood actress, I wouldn't be surprised at all if she becomes the next Kristen Stewart, in terms of acting style and types of roles she'll probably be cast in because in my opinion, Shree shows just as much promise as Kristen did when she starred in "The Safety of Objects" as a 10-year-old budding actress and for some odd reason, perhaps I may need to get my eyes examined, I couldn't stop thinking about how Shree resembles a younger version K's GF Stella Maxwell whenever she was on screen, perhaps this might be due more to her poise, confidence and screen presence than her looks.
What attracted me to IMDb was the fact that it had an entire forum dedicated to any individual movie, actor, director, etc. I need to reemphasize ANY since there are several film message boards on the internet, yet only one, IMDb, which always yields the search results I'm looking for after entering any movie, actor or director in the search box. I personally don't know of any film buffs so I used to frequent IMDb's message boards to discuss my favorite films, actors, theories, plot holes and clarifications with other individuals who shared the same interests as I do--and the feedback was invaluable especially with regard to foreign, obscure and art house films which hardly got any ink from mainstream writers and one would be hard pressed to find an active discussion involving such films anywhere else on the internet. MovieChat, which has patterned itself after the now defunct IMDb message boards, is in my opinion, the next best thing since it resembles IMDb better than any other film forum message board.
For those who claim that Kristen acts the same in every role have got to see her performances in her various sketches on Saturday Night Live--I mean she showed very good acting range as her roles were so distinct and her performances were so different in each and every one of these sketches. I checked out imdbarchive.com yet this site doesn't appear to have any boards for actors or directors--only boards for films. And some of the films I entered in the search box did not have boards either.
Glad you learned how to make your links clickable Carved. On another forum which Ron and I have been checking out, (The Movie Database), making a link clickable is even easier than the former IMDb message boards, as all that is needed on this site is entering a valid URL address and it automatically becomes clickable. So I'm hoping Jim or whomever else is involved in the creation of this forum will tweak the algorithms that govern these message boards in a way that posting links will become much more user friendly.
The original theory I entertained with regard to the biggest blunder in the history of the Academy Awards ceremony was, half-jokingly, that the mistaken "winner" which Faye Dunaway announced, was a rigged AMPAS election winner, while the real winner of course was "Moonlight".
It makes some sense that the mixup occurred because there were two sets of envelopes, one stationed at each side of the stage, which could explain why Dunaway was given another Best Actress Oscar winner envelope despite the fact that Emma Stone had already won the statuette previously just moments beforehand. Some are putting the blame on PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the accounting firm in charge of tallying Oscar votes from AMPAS members. However, AMPAS was responsible for the design and the procurement of the envelops, so they could end up shouldering the blame if the confusion was a result of the Best Picture Oscar winner envelope containing the Best Actress Oscar card--although this does not seem to be the case since some insist that the envelop which Beatty handed to Dunaway read "Actress in a Leading Role".
And to put a hilarious spin on this incident, according to TMZ, a site whose articles I usually take with a grain of salt, Beatty and Dunaway reputedly argued over who would announce the winner for Best Picture. Beatty then supposedly yielded to Dunaway and let her announce the winner, which like you mentioned previously, wasn't the Best Picture Oscar winner.
Perhaps someone should create a blog regarding the top alternatives to IMDb's former message boards. While it's true that there are several blogs about alternatives to IMDb in general, I know of no blogs which specifically list the top alternatives to their now defunct message boards.
Perhaps someone should start a blog listing the top alternatives to IMDb--of course putting MovieChat.org at the top of the list for those seeking and Googling for alternatives.
I chose not to watch the Oscar ceremony this year after all the category fraud that was committed with regard to last year's Best Supporting Actress category.
Could it be that La La Land was supposed to be the rigged winner, while Moonlight was the actual winner?

Yes, I know Hacksaw Ridge is a long shot to win Best Picture and Best Director, however, in my opinion, this was my fave film released in 2016 bar none.

Like 9 explained, it's a little trickier to post links here in comparison to IMDb where you would simple bookend a link with [url] and [/url].
For me when I first learned how to post links on this site I found it to be a bit confusing as even when I posted the URL first and then the link second to make it clickable as 9 mentions--for example when I did this for a YouTube video, the link would open YouTube's home page instead of the individual video I wanted the link to open up. So to avoid such confusion I would simply post the URL for the video twice just like this (don't forget to use quotation marks around the first URL as well as the > symbol between the two URLs:
