> The bird used in this movie was so low-tech it was jarring and silly I disagree, it is *brilliantly* low-tech because they were entering an *unknown* environment where your instruments will only take you so far, that is, they can only provide you information for the information you are looking specifically looking for. It is a perfectly logical thing to bring along because the logic is simple: *If* there is anything in there that *can* kill the bird, it would likely harm the humans, too. Doesn't matter what it is. It is basically the same logic behind Donald Rumsfeld's famous "known knowns" quote (for which he was widely panned for, but I really thought was a pretty brilliant summary): "Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones..." You bring the instruments for the "known unknowns" and you bring the bird for the "unknown unknowns". How did they try to warn them about it? I liked that they included a lot of news footage. Overall I love the point-of-view story told completely from Louise's eyes. We experience everything from her point of view and really only being exposed to all that sort of stuff completely through news footage I thought really added to the story. She wouldn't be insulated from those realities just because she's out in the middle of nowhere. I still wouldn't mind hearing her lecture on why Portugues sounds so different from other Romance languages. > big mistakes in my opinion.... placing the action in 2010 rather than in the more distant past... this robs Fargo of one its hallmarks, the period characterization The movie Fargo was set 9 years in the past Season 1 of Fargo was set 7 years in the past Season 2 of Fargo was set 36 years in the past Season 3 of Fargo is set 7 years in the past. You think **Season 3** is the odd one out?!?
