Just watched it for the first time. Very good movie. This movie is fantastic. Just got done watching it. That final scene with the all out war and Ed Lauter and Bronson running through the streets shooting people is priceless. Farther back. Watching for the first time and I noticed those scenes were funny and a bit odd. "When we got there we looked at each other and said "They fought over this?!" You probably didn't see the awesome basement it has. I think it's kinda sad that clowns are viewed as scary and evil these days. That's not what the were back in the day. If it made sense, it wouldn't be funny. The secret of youth wasn't allowed to leave the tribe. They had to die. They were just there to exploit them anyways... Here's a link to the MST version if you're interested: https://youtu.be/a3BRTdSE7S4 He was her ticket home. I've been watching the mst3k version for the millionth time. Great episode. Giger designed the poster? Yes, I was talking about the book. Apocalypse Now is based on Heart of Darkness. Yeah, I think it's a great part of the movie. Horror fans tend to be simple. Very sad. The book is very much worth reading. McCarthy is a great writer. It's true, he doesn't use much punctuation but you get used to it. I too saw the movie before reading it and like others, think the movie is better but the book is still excellent. Another great book by McCarthy is The Road. Also made into a movie. In that case, I think the book is way better. The kid scared me more than the Babadook. He looked like a young Alex (Malcolm McDowell) from A Clockwork Orange. Didn't they lie about being able to afford a big donation? "It was as if Carl Sagan had swallowed a dictionary and an astrophysics book" Well yes, he was a scientist before he became an author and science popularizer. Contact was his only work of fiction. He goes much deeper into concepts that are examined in the story. It's pretty interesting IMO. "She was expecting actual aliens and another planet...and got a lemon" Hehe, Sagan was one of the advisers for 2001 ASO that told Kubrick not to show any aliens in the movie. He was smart enough to know that any depiction of aliens would just not be convincing for a Hard Sci fi movie. I like the movie but the book is much better. Have you read it? Good point.
