I wholly concur. The visuals and such are impressive but ambiguity is one thing..wholesale incoherence masquerading as "artsy" is QUITE another....

VERY bleak.. but I find the lead peformance amazeballs and it's a very good script !!
This is a fascinating take on his story!! ..other random nitpicks I had -- did Mario ever wonder why they never got to the wedding? Did anyone find body/bodies in the bushes by that gas station?

I think your ending is a FAR better idea.. and I was thinking it would be something of this ilk.. instead of just some " OH I'TS LAURA'S GHOST" silliness. I hated it.
This is exactly what I came to parse as well!
Since he dies in the " Life" she lead at the homestead a bit with the dead guy who stayed with his brother when the floods came-- I am presuming he drowned in the car.
Well allegedly this is backwards from what other people who seem to GET this more than I do said-- the whole story was the MOMENT the car goes off the road INTO that reservoir ... that THAT is reality... the whole ravine/house/village/dude/ etc was all something that happened at the brink of death--- yet though the bro is dead.. she decides to LIVE and crawl out of the car and NOT drown.. ::hmm:: ...
For what it's worth and any devil's advocacy... I really adored Mother and I LOATHED Sacred Deer. ::shrug::
OK.. a spoiler laden review on Amazon says no.. that the whole movie existed in a world that had been flooded out years before and she is choosing to live by getting out of the car she is drowning in?

my Issue is the the love interest... I am deeply sorry to make fun of that lady... but she is SO not partic attractive ( what is UP with her nose?) and she's kind of a bitch.. so this dude ( who I thought was actually rather charming) is going to screw up all of his part of space time to be with her?? I do not buy it.
