I saw this film well before 1997, but I don't remember it being given any special push to capitalise on the newer movie.
The movie's quite entertaining. Matthew Lillard's a scene-stealer (as ever). Not sure I'd be interested in a TV show though.

I don't know if it's true, but I've read that originally this was a pitch for a F13 movie. But as that didn't happen they decided to make it anyway as their own thing.
I thought this was God-awful.
